Hands on
I think you will find that Holloway has played well as an impact substitute but poorly when he either starts on his own or in partnership with Davies. When Davies came on the first thing they did was to go for the same ball. They want to occupy the same space and when together neither is doing what he wants to do. Davies has the better stats not simply because he takes the penalties but because he as a striker at least tries to strike. Holloway hit one shot yesterday which was well saved and then he falls over in injury time instead of laying the ball off to Tope. As a striker he is an embarrassment. As someone you lump the ball up to up field he can do a job but can he find one of a players or hold up the ball - yes he did last season - no he didn't yesterday. On the impact of the Pauls I think we are less up and at them by passing through teams and more long balls. Jack picking up the ball from the back four and passing it forward is not where I want him to play. Nor do I want to see him running everywhere demanding the ball and being ignored by his team mates. I want to see him where he can pass to our 'strikers' or take a strike himself. The substitutions yesterday made that unlikely.

You mean the Bury game where he sulked the whole second half after someone committed cardinal sin of not passing him the ball before Wellens finally hauled him off and we went on to win a game we should of breezed without him, nobody denies the lads ability and when he's on it he's a joy to watch but one player cannot be allowed to dictate the whole mood of the team dependant on what side of the bed he gets out of. Like being sat with united fans, claiming for every decision, even though its obvious the correct decision was made. Don’t know how far down you’re sat, but there’s three “older” people a couple of rows behind me and they’ve been getting on my tits since we moved to the North Stand. Insanely bias and not a clue about football (or the rules for that matter.) Never seem to please them.

I hope the lad grows up one day and realises what ability he's got and goes about making the most of it, you can't coach some of the things he can do with a ball but he's going to have to listen and follow simple instructions if he wants to get on in the game, unfortunately for him footballs a team game and when he realises this he will be a different beast. He should be playing the role Jack Wilshire has perfected at Arsenal, a disciplined advanced position where he can dictate play. It took Wilshire some time to settle down, albeit. Injuries have been a problem, but he's a better player for it now. Hope Wilshire goes to the World cup, he has that flair we need. Not sure if he fits into Southgate's safety first tactics though. From the videos McEleneny appears to know his job, which could be just what we need, hopefully we can secure a specialist striker too and a big, quick, tough centre back. Anyone know why Nicky Ajose has failed at Bury despite having a decent goal scoring record with other clubs? I wonder if his loan deal will be cut short with RW moving in for him? Gardner always seems to have a decent enough 1st half but very quickly falls behind the pace in the 2nd. Stamina problems?? He's always had stamina problems, seen at lot of him at Droylsden and he was often subbed after an hour there. You've nailed this one to be fair but the Kid is only 21 and thankfully 'keen as f*&k' and hungry. You can train talent but not install 'attitude and desire to win' If nurtured, JackB could develop into a very good player

Midsblue
Byrne has gone. Bryan too by sounds of it although there's a faint glimmer he may remain. Doyle for Hunt I'm uncertain on as hopefully we can bring in another striker who can play immediately and this McEleney could spark midfield/attack. I'd bring Palmer back from Burton if possible. He hasn't played for a number of games for them and been an unused sub. He'd slot back into our midfield quite easily and bring the creativity that Byrne brought. If we could also bring in a more mobile centre half then superb - that lad from Liverpool perhaps? All depends on the takeover - hopefully 2018 brings a swift conclusion this week to rubber stamping the deal and we'll soon see what resources Lemsagam/his backers have to strengthen us on and off the pitch

super_blue
My observation yesterday regardless of formation, team picked etc is that a lot of football players are just thick...I mean some of the things wellens was shouting yesterday that players just didn’t Execute or got wrong was staggering. Not sure why yesterday of all the games I noticed it more but it was frustrating the hell out of me and I could see Wellens doing his nut at people not playing with their brain and not doing simple things. He was particularly giving Gardner a lot of stick about how he was complicating things all over the pitch. Holloway is another that seems to make things so complicated when to many fans he doesn’t do the simple things that you’d expect. My thoughts anyway! ✌️
