  1. It’s more likely to appeal to a convenience store or Papa John’s pizza delivery place... something completely unrelated to football. £75k is crazy money though. I’m not sure on the square footage but would guess that it should command a rent of 30% of that at best. Plus a rent free period usually offered as standard. Assuming the space doesn’t have toilets or water, waste and drainage then this would be the first thing to get costed up rather than worry about the amount of rent. And instead of rent, look at offering a turnover rent - ie a percentage of the turnover rather than a fixed rent.
  2. Great post and you're right to highlight that some of the marketing fundamentals are missing at the club, particularly with the ST campaign but it's a common theme. It's easy to say that 'crowds will grow only when the performances / results improve', which is logical, but that doesn't mean you disregard basic promotion of your product - particularly not when some of the options available to you are free. I'd suggest that you put your summary in an email to the club if you haven't done already - wouldn't be surprised to see some activity along the same line next week as a result. It might appear patronising but everyone needs a reminder to do the basics, sometimes.
  3. Bradford were undecided as of yesterday. Would imagine he'd be training with latics if he was likely to be at latics next season...
  4. Where is everyone drinking pre game tomorrow?
  5. Heard someone talking about this at Fleetwood. The rumour was he was having a medical yesterday. Any truth in this? Not seen a reason given for him not being in the squad yesterday...
  6. Was a top lad Andy. His mrs ran my local pub and he was in there after games and was always a very genuinely bloke and a cracking player for latics
  7. SSN reporting that we're "confident of signing Ebanks Blake this week"
  8. I saw him having a pop during the orient game and it annoyed me. What the detractor was saying was fair and Johnson just told them to "shut up", like we should all just sit there and not have an opinion when we're losing at home. With you all the way on Liam Kelly by the way. Can't see how we've justified paying a fee for this lad on his performances so far - I can't see him as starter, never mind captain.
  9. Lots of poor players as referenced above but I was amazed by how ineffective Kelly was. Is he woefully unfit, or have we just been mugged by Bristol City? Not seen a captain play that poorly for a long time.
  10. Brilliant stuff. Proper had me chuckling at this, keep em coming!
  11. Was randomly chatting to my Liverpool supporting mate 2 days ago about Wayne Harrison and now this. It was in reaction to the rumours about Tarky going to Liverpool. His reaction to my text "last player Liverpool signed from Oldham? Wayne Harrison?" Bizarre and very very sad if his death is true.
  12. you might be right, i just can't remember anything official coming out of the club on the matter. Does anyone know if Simon has an email address which is available to fans?
  13. The original poster has compelled me to write an email to Simon Corney on the subject of the Rochdale Road end. Does anyone know if his email address is available? Or if there's anyone who you can email on his behalf?
  14. Awesome feeling when we all stepped off at London Bridge and started singing. There was probably just as many Millwall fans there than on the platform at South Bermondsey but for some reason it just felt safe again, back in civilisation. Good times!
  15. reminds me of Jermaine Johnson looking at that video. JJ caused defenders of every level all sorts of problems but couldn't shoot. He seems to have found an end product at Sheff Weds so it just shows you have to be patient with players like this. Hopefully Sid the kid can do the biz
  16. A fit and confident Robbie Simpson is worth keeping faith in. I hope Lee Johnson and our fans do so, as he's a class act when he's on form and you don't get many class acts in league one. Not for free anyway
  17. I think O Heck's point here is really valid. We don't have attendance from critical mass of the entire local population, so it's always going to be hard to attract a section of that community who have a significantly lower propensity to attend football matches (anywhere). I wrote 15000 words on this subject on behalf of Sean Jarvis back in 2003/4, for my uni dissertation, if anyone wants some bedtime reading ;)
  18. to be fair, that's not a bad song idea! managed to provide me with a momentary break in despair anyway, cheers
  19. anyone know Tony's email address? i think an honest thank you email from lots of fans would do the trick
  20. L1onheartNew - that is the greatest ever message board post for me. Bravo sir. The moment Matt Smith nodded that ball in was the most exuberant of my life, since Neil Poynton at Wembley. Hearing it from a fellow latic's point of view from the other side of the world - that just sealed the deal for me. Amazing thought! Bollocks to the rest of the pointless aggro on this thread. OAFC KTF
  21. I’ve been fully behind Dickov from day one, never faltered despite some dismal results and even more dismal showings. Because I have seen that he’s been ‘building towards something’ and frankly, I think his personality has brought us some players that I don’t think we would’ve seen at the club otherwise. I even accept that he is a young manager and (even with 2 full seasons’ experience) will continue to make naïve decisions with tactics. But this statement has taken the edge off all that. Constant negativity around the club? Yes, when you lose games you that you shouldn’t lose, fans don’t like it - welcome to football Don’t get credit when we win? I think the adulation/singing/clapping from fans and lovey bollocks in the papers after the few wins we’ve had this year, tell a different story Want fans to still be talking about an important goal 13 years later like they do at our successful neighbours Man City? Time to start motivating your players to do the basics a lot better, like closing down properly (it worked at Crewe when you were about to lose your job) and getting your centre-backs to pass the ball short rather than trying to spray 50 yard passes around. And while we’re talking about the negativity around the club, I think you should look at the way you represent the club on the touchline every game. If you spent half of the time you spend spouting aggressive negativity to the 4th official, giving players advice and support during the game, they might have a chance of implementing some of the aforementioned basics much easier. Carry on.
  22. I can’t think of a better way to sticking it to the Franchise FC than cheering on a latics victory at their big concrete block. Hopefully leading to a dismal season for that arrogant sod Karl Robinson, ending in relegation, with Wimbledon taking their place in League One. Balance restored.
  23. My mate is the definition of 'Terry' - supporting Crewe and Liverpool in equal measure, without apology. Of course, I’ve berated him for it for the 12 years that I’ve known him but in all honesty I’m quite jealous. What a nice position to be in – the best of both worlds. I could NEVER do it myself though, no chance, soul destroying to even think of supporting city or united on the side.
  24. Taiwo potentially doesn't want to go to Portugal because a) he's just been - "speaking from his holiday villa in Portugal" he doesn't want to be away from his newly born daughter or c) both of the above Or, maybe, he just isn't signing of Oldham Athletic!
