  1. I think that Rooney was playing a bit deeper than Millar hoping that Millar's pace would get through their back four, so he had freedom to make that happen. But Millar isn't ready to be first choice yet.
  2. Millar doesn't look the part to me. Not clinical in front of goal and too easily knocked off the ball. That's not to say that he won't come through in the future but JCH showed the way when he came on. He should have scored but his contribution was excellent.
  3. Best we've played for quite a while. Wes was everywhere in fact it was difficult to spot a player who didn't do themselves justice. Philliskirk is getting better and better and I thought this was Clarke-Harris best game so far. Like many of you, I too would change the keeper. He was a bit fortunate to get away that mistake, and if you add that to Tuesday nights howler then I think he is due a spell in the reserves.
  4. We have the same number of points as Bournemouth did after 12 games last season. ;) But, we don't have their players or their resources.
  5. I think Wolves game was a blip. Lets not get carried away. Onwards and upwards and lets get behind the manager and team - see you tomorrow at BP.
  6. The only thing with Sid is there is very little end product. The rest are unpredictable.
  7. Nice bloke? He's nicked our money - bang him up!
  8. A quality midfielder of the type suggested above will not come cheap, neither will a striker who scores goals, which is the area I think we need to fill.
  9. Keep it. The winner does well financially out of it and winning anything is good for the team and supporters.
  10. He's made some very good saves, however, he doesn't command his area and his distribution is slow and inaccurate. He's young and no doubt he will learn but some other team will benefit from these experiences. Would prefer a more experienced keeper who would organise the back four.
  11. Careless comment from Tarky. We all know that he would like a move to a bigger club - nothing wrong with that, but it would be better if he kept it quiet.
  12. I was really impressed with the way Macdonald and Philliskirk worked together. Some terrific football particularly in the first half.
  13. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, I must disagree with everything said in the original post. LJ, as I have said on here before, is a young, flash harry type of guy. But he has provided us with some of the most entertaining football we've seen for a long time. Yes he is struggling to get the best out of Rooney, however anyone at Crawley on Saturday was left scratching their head at a striker who jumps for the ball way before it arrives so that his body was on the way down by the time the it arrived. And for all JCH's failings Rooney certainly couldn't match his work rate. Both these things are beyond the manager's control once the player crosses the white line. Also, regarding LJ's playing career, I think it's unbelievable to assume a player can have a good career because of his father. 10/10 for effort, 1/10 for content.
  14. I agree Stop the Rot - and I would think the manager, coaches and players want to do the same. Relax, it will come.
  15. We were poor at Crawley, poorer than against Crewe but I'm sure this is a confidence thing. The players themselves may have started to wonder if they're ever going to win a game again. Coaches always say that players need to relax and play their football but it must be difficult to relax when every week we concede an early goal and nothing seems to work out at the other end of the pitch. I think the fans have a big role to play in not getting on their backs when a pass goes astray. Let's get behind them because I think it will come good in the end.
  16. This negative talk about LJ is ridiculous. This is his first managerial job. The team started the season pretty well, most of the performances have been way above anything we experienced under Dickov. I think most of us can see that any mistakes we've made have been severely punished and we have had some bad luck. However the real test for LJ is now - keeping the players believing in his methods and getting that next win. I know he is a bit of a flash harry but he's young and I think we should cut him some slack. I am a season ticket holder, I live in Surrey and the last few years the journey north have been a real waste of time but this season I can see real progress. See you at BP on Saturday.
  17. On Saturday JCH started out wide on the right. He tacked back and won his headers. Granted he didn't pull up any trees but compared to Rooney he did at least try. He is raw and if he doesn't get into trouble and works at his game he will improve. I felt a bit sorry for Macdonald. I thought he worked hard despite missing those chances and having seen him at his previous clubs I'm sure he will soon get goals for us. But the other striking position is a worry. JCH not ready yet and Rooney - well what can you say about him. I thought Philliskirk looked busy and tidy when he came on. Someone has to start taking responsibility for the goals.
  18. I would like to see anyone replace Grounds. His distribution is woeful and he switches off too many times. When he makes a mistake he points to someone else.
  19. I wasn't aware of excessive criticism from the fans. We've all had a bit of a moan about missed chances, poor defending etc so is that outlawed now? I think the majority of fans are right behind LJ.
  20. 'We are in for another relegation battle this season. ' Thanks for giving us warning!
  21. The fly I spoke to said that LJ was 'very cross'!
  22. The most positive side to our 'poor start' is that we look anything but a poor team. Confidence is starting to drain away from the players. I remain optimistic that things will turn round.
  23. LJ is absolutely correct. Latics didn't play all that well yet created enough chances to win the game.
