Great performance going forward, great character to wrestle the three points away from Stevenage. The defence was as most of us expected. Lack of a dominant figure to clear everything and the left side went missing too often. Grounds distribution was woeful as was his defending. So there's work to be done but a very encouraging start.

Well you poor, misguided fool. Of all the teams in the world that sometimes win something you landed on Latics! The same thing happened to me 56 years ago. There is no cure. So save yourself before the season starts otherwise there will be no turning back. If you decide to stay, warn your friends and relatives so that when your demeanour alters to suicidal on Saturday evening (or whatever the time is in your neck of the woods) they will know that 'Latics lost!' This two word phrase will be ever associated with you as it is with us.

No matter who pays in midfield and up front I definitely would not play Mellor at the back. Would go for Belezika. Looked very good against Orient last season and Stevenage will play long ball so we'll need someone who can win some headers.

The first pic, the new kit one, has been stretched and narrowed on photoshop - I thought so the first time I saw it. The second shot, because of the angle shows him to be wider than he is. Compare the thickness of the legs. However I haven't seen him in the flesh this season so only those who have can sensibly comment.

All these players coming suggest to me that Baxter is off. I suspect that Rooney's signing will be announced when Baxter goes.

I do think there is a lot of room for improvement between the club and the fans. I contacted Jennie regarding the new shirt replacing the last one after only one season and received a very curt, defensive reply. It would be nice if the club showed that they value us as opposed to just saying that they do. Better communication would help.
