  1. No idea for most of them. Times must be hard when we can only afford one set of hand luggage for the trip.
  2. Think many feel the same. I am renewing four tickets this week otherwise I will end up spending more watching on iplayer. I live in hope that the trust can get some engagement with the owners.
  3. Administration is only applicable for a business that is still viable under a restructuring. It's not as simple as a points deduction and then move on. Without assets the reality is more likely to be liquidation. The answer has to be to get the owner to run our club properly or sell to another interested party who will. In my opinion, the owner entering into some meaningful dialogue with the Trust has to be the way forward so we can understand his motives and future plans for OAFC. This club is at a crossroads and everyone; owner, fans, trust and brass bank have to work together together for it to go in the right direction.
  4. Premier League and Championship clubs use monster heat lamps to ensure grass continues to germinate and grow during winter. Unfortunately, they are the luxury of the richer clubs. Hopefully, the milder weather forecast over the next few weeks will stimulate some early growth and improve the surface. The three games at home in the last week will not have helped. However, whatever the state of the surface, it's a level playing field for both teams on the day..... so to speak. You would hope the home team would adapt easier but the pitch cannot be used for the goal we conceded Saturday which was due to playing deeper and deeper and finally conceding from a high ball into the box.
  5. He may have no choice. Window shuts this week.
  6. Took my young niece and nephew today to their first away game. We were sat in front of a family group whose vocabulary consisted of f..k and c..t. Total scum and we had to move seats. We then saw someone nearby throw a drinks bottle at a steward just missing him and then witnessed similar when someone threw something at one of the executive areas narrowly missing a women with young children. On the way back to the car witnessed an Oldham fan proceed to kick off wing mirrors of several cars outside the ground before threatening opposition fans. Total scum bag and deserves locking up. Today should have been a special day for young fans at their first away game. Instead it will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Ashamed.
  7. Times must be hard if they are having to use Gerrards old shirt for the photoshoot.
  8. Just a win will do. 1 - 0 will be fine for me with a solid display.
  9. With the good take up for Fulham, and the likely size of the away following from Exeter, be a nice gesture if they offered some discounts to boost numbers. ST Holders bring a friend for a fiver, kids for a quid type of thing.
  10. Prior to coming here on loan, most fans outside Bournemouth, including me, would not have heard of him. Once he started scoring regularly, the opposition start to take note. He will now be considered a threat by teams and will receive more attention from defenders. He may need to adapt his game to this, which will come with experience, but it should also free up space for others to score. This is where good coaching becomes important and the time for strike partners to step up to the plate. It is a team game and all have to contribute.
  11. Its not a bad draw considering. Around 100k return on gate receipts possible in addition to 180k secured so far from round 1 and 2. May also feature on tv as a possible upset based on their current form. All in all, not a bad effort and should keep the wolf from the door for a bit.
  12. Reality check. We are a league 2 club with no money and this is the general standard of player at this level. The best we can hope is to have an honest group of players who give all for 90 minutes each week. In my opinion Gardner does that and yes he does make mistakes but so do most others in the team; he just seems to get most of the criticism. However, he does not give up and no one can deny that he turned the game yesterday. He ain't perfect, the team ain't perfect and the club is far from perfect but we are where we are. We are 100k better off after the win and if we can get through the next round we may get another decent pay day. Progress may be slow but the momentum is forward.
  13. Both have earned a start up front. Its a positive team selection which i hope will bring a win.
  14. Agree. He may read this forum and acted in response to the fans who regularly post critical comments about the management team and their tactics and then makes statement to pacify others who quibble about the lack of communication. He can't do right for wrong.
  15. If trust correct, wages paid so players can focus on the game..... hopefully
  16. One of them pulls out wide on occasion to allow space for your midfield, e.g. Baxter to run into. Simplest.
  17. This is a tough league with some big physical players. IMO O'Grady or Miller with Lang or Surridge is going to be the best option for most games in this league. It gives some presence up front and has got us into the playoff postions. I think there is more to come with a fully fit Baxter and Dummigan but no need to change things too much at this stage. It's a long season and they will all get their chance but for me its as you were for now.
  18. Every team in league 2 will know Baxter is a quality player and try to nullify him when he plays. Bringing him on later in games when the game has opened up will give him the space to play and influence the game more whilst also getting him match fit. It is early days but we are sixth and just won 3-0 away from home. No manager will change a winning team after an emphatic away win like that. Baxter will get his chance. We are sixth in the league with players returning from injury and the best of Baxter to come. We are doing ok.
  19. The away end is all seated. The ground is located in Cleethorpes and not Grimsby. It is a 20 minute walk from Cleethorpes Station which is located on the North Promenade at the seafront. The ground is also very easy to get to by car. ( M62, M18, M180, A180, Cleethorpe Road, Grimsby Road ). It's a straight run on quiet motorways once passed Leeds and takes an hour and 3/4 . There is plenty of nearby on street parking on the streets around the ground. Suggest parking on the residential streets between Brereton Avenue and Queen Mary Avenue, which offer free parking, and are about a ten minute walk from the ground. Cleethorpes has some great fish and chips on the seafront and in the market place. Both Becketts and Steels, in the Cleethorpes Market Place, are award winning fish and chip shops which do great haddock and chips. They do not do Cod here which I am advised by the local fishermen is a fish that eats all the crap in the sea. Holland's puddings and pies are not heard of around here.
  20. I very much doubt it. We have one of the bigger squads with some on a decent wage for this level. To be honest, he was never going to be part of the plans after whatever went on. It's early days but we are doing ok without him.
  21. ....because the best available 11 are on the pitch
