oafc1955 Posted July 19, 2012 Share Posted July 19, 2012 It seems we are going to get a main stand at last, however a 3000 capacity is a joke. 3750 in the Chaddy 4600 in RRE it will hold only slightly more than the present main stand which only covers 2/3 the length of the pitch!!! A grander, bigger stand would be what we would all want but at the moment we could fit our home fans into the new stand! 14,000 capacity will be plenty for us even for the Championship, we won't fill it even if we ended up playing in that division. There's no money to build a bigger stadium. No financial backers apart from the Council money and SC himself. If you can find a few million get intouch with SC asap! Our previous 4-sided capacity was 12-12.5k 3,000 new stand 4,600 rre 2,300 chaddy 2, 300 main stand at present = 12,200 - not far off what we roughly used to have, about 200 lower IIRC so what's all the fuss about?? - room to expand in the new stand as and when needed, could always fill the corners in if ever necessary as well; add to the fact that not having the need fo offices etc on the sheepfoot lane side could offer the chance for greater leeway regards expansion on that side and go further along the road as well if ever needed. As long as it has a bit of character and style and something a bit different to it the capacity doesn't bother me as, as above, we will have 12k (eventually) when all is said and doen as was the case previously. As expertly done by the lads on here, something like this would be modern, functional and would look really classy especially at night when lit up - use solar panel as well and would look the biz (seriously, hallam and LF i suggest showing these to Corney and establish what could/might work in any plans - prospective 'public consultation' could turn into a unique 'football fans design own stadium' story Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We had over 13000 before Lookers was demolished. With a new 3,000 seater mainstand, we'll be couple of hundred short of 14,000. Once Chaddy and Main re-developed whenever that will be, we'd be between 14,000 - 15,000 (presuming Chaddy stays roughly the same size and the main is extended to run full length of the pitch). Then there can be corners filled in and extra tier added to RRE (think people have said thats possible due to the design of it?) if ever needed but doubt it will anytime soon.. Get the 7 day a week income rolling in, pay back the money for building the stand and then complete the stadium. Unfortunatley, can see the main stand being pulled by the health and safety sometime in the next 4/5 years so it really is last chance saloon developing BP now.
