laticdickovarmy
The problem is the fee we would have to pay to Everton which is I would guess why no one has looked at him
Zorrro
He's a free agent.
laticdickovarmy
But Everton made him a contract offer which means you have to pay a fee Think thats correct anyway
ChrisA
Did you bother to read it? The offer was less than his current deal so no compensation would be required.
the_mighty_bosh
He can play in central midfield and up front right? He might be a gamble, but a gamble worth taking I reckon. Seemed to do well at Tranmere last year and could be just the player to play off Smith. As long as his fitness levels are up to scratch, sign him up! Stevie_J
He's a good player. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten himself fixed up yet.
no1laticsfan
Iv liked him ever since I came across him on FIFA a few years ago. Haha. Sign him up
razza699
He will warm the bench nicely next to Dan Taylor
AndrewDodd
I think he was in Manchester with SC on Saturday - didn't recognise him at first, but just seen his pic
AndrewDodd
Training with us apparenty... http://www.bbc.co.uk...otball/19522021 I personally hope he signs, Alex! Something to prove.. Like I said below, was with SC in San Carlo on Saturday, I'm sure! Seems a long time since I helped you with that logo, by the way!
al_bro
But Everton made him a contract offer which means you have to pay a fee Think thats correct anyway I doubt it. He is not contracted to any club at the moment, so would come free. If we had wanted to sign him back in June, then a fee would have had to be paid. Slew would probably be sent back to Blackburn if Baxter signs.
mikeleylandoafc
If he does sign, at least would also show there is a wee bit more cash in the pot when all hope seemed lost in that respect. A rough diamond, and a gamble, but we need another dimension.

Schlieb
Remember alot of hype over him a few years back so hopefully he'd do well in league 1.

Schlieb
Just had quick wiki check, scored 3 in 14 forth bin dippers last year, they seemed to like him (kept extending loan) until everton recalled him. Plus if they offered him a contract maybe he just wants first team football. Sounds promising if true... Can't be as poor as slews looked? JonesyOAFC
He's got a fantastic name. A scouser, called Jose. Also, he's a good player from what I've seen.

JoshOWTB
Here he is scoring his first goal for Everton. Looks good from this. (Sorry for the poor quality) Edited September 10, 2012 by JoshOWTB
Twisbrogan
I think I've been bitten by the negativity bug. Can't help but wonder why this story has been broken before a deal has been signed. The BBC article reads like something that an agent would put together when trying to get his client a numbers of options to choose from. ...and it looks like it's going to rain. PhilStarbucksSilkySkills
Very odd for them to announce a trial player, unless of course they don't think they'll be signing him and just want to drum up some excitement.
oafcprozac
Personal life Baxter was one of three men arrested in October 2009 in Kirkby on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and on suspicion of possessing counterfeit money.[5] from wikipedia^^^^ according to sources at tranmere... "he was a cracking player for us but a bit of a tearaway, he has been arrested numerous times for drug and theft offences" Another Billy Kenny? Obviously has talent... mikeleylandoafc
Let's hope Jose's learned his lesson where Kenny clearly never did. We could have a punt at Michael Johnson from City if we're going down this route again(!) He got banned from driving last week. I wonder if the club would have made the announcement had the BBC article not been written. I would expect they would have wanted to keep it quiet.
