oafc1955
Just got this from the M.E.N Iain Dowie one and only for Latics...maybe? By Mike Keegan | 12 Feb 2013 09:46 US-based owner Simon Corney, speaking from New York, says that he is yet to decide who will replace City legend Paul Dickov, who vacated the Boundary Park hot seat last week. “Iain is the only person I have been in contact with with regards to the manager’s job,” he said. “But there is no number one choice. We are taking it day by day so don’t rule anything in or out.” Dowie, a former Northern Ireland international, led Oldham to the play-offs in 2002-03, albeit with the aid of former owner Chris Moore’s not-inconsiderable backing. He is the fans’ favourite to take over from Dickov, who left following a league run of one point in 27. But one issue could be his wage demands. Bolton-based Dowie’s son, Oliver, tweeted last week: “Good to see dad’s fans’ favourite for the Oldham job. He’s been waiting for a long-term project like this for a while.”

philliggi
ive stopped looking the odds for this, it only takes someone £50 worth of bets in a relatively short period of time for the favourite to change
TH2002
Will we get a new manager before they announce the next Pope? Maybe that is why the Pope is standing down. Jesus saves and all that!!
steveoafc
Just stuck a fiver on TP just in case, 20/1 with Sky Bet It appears to be a two horse race going off the odds, with flip flopping favourites. I do however expect Philliskirk's odds to plummet shortly on account of prozacs fiver.
scorpiofc
Anyone else thinking we wont be making an announcement until after the Everton game? Its clearly going to be a tough game and what better way to pick up the fans and players by making an announcement on the manager after? If we win, it keeps the euphoria going, if we lose, it picks us back up? Not a bad tactic.

oafc1955
In all fairness I think naming a manager before the Everton game would seriously rock the boat, however, if we were to win.............then what?
TH2002
In all fairness I think naming a manager before the Everton game would seriously rock the boat, however, if we were to win.............then what? the_mighty_bosh
In all fairness I think naming a manager before the Everton game would seriously rock the boat, however, if we were to win.............then what? Then we keep Philliskirk on as caretaker. I can't think of a safer pair of hands that him currently and there's no time limit on us hiring a new manager so if he keeps winning then it would be foolish to replace him. LaticsPete
Hearing there may be some legs to the Sammy Lee rumour. Although if SC hasn't spoken to him, they'll have to make giant strides to get anywhere. Edited February 12, 2013 by LaticsPete
Hands on
So Corney has been in contact with Dowie but with no one else and there is no number one choice. The only rumours that have any basis are those to do with Dowie. Corney is happy to take his time presumably because our next league 1 game is the Tuesday after Everton. Why bother. Take another week in New York. Leave it all to TP and PG!
