BP1960 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Got the idea from another thread, who do you think were the Latics best ever penalty takers ? Quote
BP1960 Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) Redfearn ? Jimsleftfoot can go back to the 1950s he will know them all. Edited January 19, 2014 by BP1960 Quote
GravityGrave Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Been supporting since 98' so shez or Liddell Quote
nzlatic Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Seem to remember david eyres being pretty solid Quote
rudemedic Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Liddell, because I think Redfearn may have missed one and put a lot, if not all, his penalties the same way. Quote
Latics_Fanatic Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Liddell. Never missed a penalty at professional level, IIRC. Quote
Markspark92 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Soon as Liddell walked up to take a penalty you knew you'd already scored was class Quote
laticsrblue Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Easy - Liddell, fantastic record, never missed a penalty. Quote
perfectOzblue Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Sir Andy Ritchie was usually brilliant...which is what made his miss at Reading which helped send us down to the hellhole of League One in 96/97 so painful. Quote
BristolOwl Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Bobby Johnson was superb, he invariably scored after aiming the ball against the inside of a post. Goalie had no chance. Quote
JoshOWTB Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I seem to remember Rueben Reid taking a lot of penalties, did he miss many? Quote
LaticsPete Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Whittle or Liddell for me. Different styles but both very succesful Quote
BP1960 Posted January 20, 2014 Author Posted January 20, 2014 Did Roger Palmer ever take penalties ?..with the number of goals he scored you would have have thought so. Quote
palmer1 Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Don't think he ever did. Not from 85 onwards anyway Quote
Stevie_J Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Liddell was the best I've seen. As soon as the ref gave a pen, and we seemed to get a lot while he was here, we'd as good as scored already. Richardson staggered run-up was entertaining, as was Baxter's dink (save for the miss against Bournemouth). Quote
One-Size Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 I remember Fitz Hall stepping up in the last minute when no one else wanted to, to give us a 1-0 win. Can't remember the opposition but it was a good penalty. Quote
