welshgaz
Pretty sure the same person started the very same thread about a month ago. He is no longer a goal threat what so ever mind and all he contributes is industry and occasionally finds decent pockets of space. Still he has in the past been a consistent performer just needs to rediscover that form.
GlossopLatic
I listened to the game on radio Manchester yesterday Andy Ritchie pointed out that Bradford did a man marking job on Philiskirk so perhaps it's something that people in football are noticing and not us? Andy Ritchie knows a bit more about the game than us, he covered the Rochdale game for Gmr and was complimentary about Philliskirk's performance. Yesterday at Bradford the combined midfield was quite simply outmuscled, to point the finger at one player is a bit negative to say the least. I think that Woodland was probably the pick in front of Jones,Winch and Philly, that said,in the second half especially, the ball was mostly floating over their heads. josh_latics
http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php/topic/46903-philislirk/#entry769991 Couldn't wait to have a pop again? We'd won 2 in a row and not conceded, he'd been praised by the staff for his pressing. He's badly out of form, but he's shown quality in the past. He needs a rest, and if we had a fully fit squad rather than filling the bench with kids, he probably would be taken out of the spotlight for a while. Alas, we don't, but he puts a shift in even when it's not going for him. There's a player in there, he's done it before and he'll do it again. The whole midfield was bypassed yesterday, the pitch and the opponents led to that, don't think DP was significantly worse than any of the rest. Markspark92
He needs a goal to give him a little boost Philly is a massive confidence player and at the minute the confidence isent thier when he's on form hes a very good player for this league
OLDHAM4ALWAYS
Philliskirk is a fantastic player. He gives 100% each game a lot of effort that some fans don't recognise, probably because they have never played football themselves. He runs every inch of the pitch chasing lost causes that other players give up. He breaks play up in the middle of the park and if there was any criticism of him is that he does not score enough but that is mainly due to him doing other players work. Sorry if this upsets anyone but I know a lot of people who now see what he is worth to the side. He does a great jobin my opinion.

Careca9
he has massively disappointed in the role at the head of the midfield. he may well run all over and close down but he's meant to offer something going forward and his goals/assist record shows that he cant play there. ive been to a few games lately and cant think of anytime he's gone past someone or been unlucky trying to slide someone through on goal or fizzed a shot wide. its not as if we he's been playing in a loosing team as well. he's been anonymous for months, and when i say anonymous i dont mean he hasnt run or tried but he has offered nothing going forward which is what we need from him. for me not good enough to be playing there, deserves the criticism and and shouldn't be in the team in that role

Can you please tell him to stop trying to do other people's work then (Liam Kelly is there to do that) and focus on doing his own job? Ta. laticsmarra
He's actually the only Oldham born player and fan that plays for the team. Ok he may not be at his best but let's get behind him and stop slagging him off every time we lose.
stewrat
I still remember the number of goals we gave away because Johnson was watching the man he was supposed to be marking from the other half of the field. The same applied to Baxter. Neither of those to would make themselves available when the ball was in a difficult spot and both gave the ball away more than Philliskirk. Maybe we should issue him with fluorescent boots and then his critics could actually see how much he does for the team without having to watch too closely. Break The Silence
You have to ask yourself why not? Of course not. We were a stepping stone for both of them. They both left for more money and to play for bigger / better clubs. I get that. Danny is one of us. He is currently out of form granted but he runs his nads off every game and actually wants to play for us. He'll do for me. I'd rather have Gareth Bale and Harry Kane in our starting XI but they don't want to play for us. Danny does.

If a Preston or a Sheffield United came in for Philliskirk do you think he would turn them down? The reason he, and the rest of the whole squad, want to play for Latics is because they couldn't find somewhere better. That is the way football is now. SavageTheBeast
When did philliskirk create an assist which we scored from with a pass most of his assists are from winning penalties
