Maybe we would have been on the verge of winning only for Rooney to score a dramatic stoppage time bicycle kick.

We then would have been hammered in the replay and never recovered, slipping to relegation.

At least now we can concentrate on trying to finish 16th.

Nah, he's right. Apparently it's called a diphthong, a one syllable word with two sounds.

Anyhow, us beating or drawing with Sheff Utd would have resulted in an entirely different draw outcome, as it's massive change in initial conditions.

If buts maybes.youre really clutching at straws.

Fact is what would have been our number got picked out with United away. Something most of us have waited 21 years for. Gutted

Can go United any time, drinking in the boozers you go in anyway and they can't give the tickets away for a lot of games these days.

Arsenal/Chelsea/Newcastle/Tottenham/Villa, that would have been a day.

Like that's anywhere near the same a us playing them.

How is going watching united against another team the same as seeing your own club there...

Not having it, ball 61 was always going to be drawn at that point in time regardless of the result against Sheff U, John Hartson determined where ball 61 was going to be every time he give them a shake.

He would have shaken them in a different sequence. Who came out after our ball? If we had drawn with Sheff Utd and ended up in the draw the difference in time it would have taken to say "Sheffield United or Oldham Athletic" would have delayed when the next ball was drawn, would Harton's hand have gone in the pot at the same angle? Would he have mixed the balls up for the same amount of time, before pulling the exact same one out? It's very unlikely, so that would have changed the rest of the draw completely. That's just one small thing, that can change everything, it's a ripple effect.

It is a bit of a kick in the teeth.

But I'll take refuge in quantum mechanics to ease the pain.

That logic applies if we were drawn as the home team but as ball 61 was drawn away it didn't matter how long it took to say. Regardless of chaos theory, we would have been drawn at ManU this evening.

I just used that as an example of a small change having wider consequences, etc.

I'm almost certain that life would not have played out the exact same had we won on Saturday, but hey ho, it's all opinion, we'll never know.

It's a bit :censored: to see the team we lost to get the draw we fancied either way.

Chaos yes, but quantum surely not.

This is just the latest example of how badly the club has been run for the past 12 months or so. Granted it was Hartson who pulled the ball out of the pot but the clubs decision to fart about after LJ left followed up by the barmy appointment of Kelly, firmly set the ball rolling to where we are now.

Dunn arriving was just another example of running a club on a par with the Dog and Duck, it was so obvious to everyone that he was here to replace Kelly and it was just a case of waiting for a thumping to give the Corney and his so called board of directors the excuse needed to get rid.

Well in life you don't always get punished for bad mistakes and even if this club had been managed in a more professional manner there was no guarantee that we would beaten Sheffield. However it just feels like we are being run by people who do not have a clue what they are doing on practically all fronts.

When we had the Liverpool and Everton games it was great going to those grounds as fans and also the club bank balance was given a serious boost, but there was always a desire to get the real big money maker at United because financially it could have made big difference to the club.

If we were still in the draw, we wouldnt have got the red scum away.

I dont need to look into statistically theory-we just wouldnt have got it, as were are OAFC and it is 2015-the year that everything went wrong

Look on the bright side, it would've been a shockingly boring game.

Yes, it would, but we'd have a great day out in the city centre, an opportunity to wind them up (at least until kick-off), i would've used it as an excuse to stay at the Lowry (where i actually met van Gaal - found him to be a nice, polite man) and, above all, at least half a million in the bank.

Bastards!!!
