He needs to stand aside, we need to bring in a competent board and not just one who wants to constantly line their pockets with anything going.

How you can support a chairman who over the course of 10 years has continually asset stripped the club.

A chairman who has overseen attendances drop to crippling levels. Corney also has continued to syphon the club of money to build a new stand and said stand is owned under a different company!? Another example of Simon's incompetence was cashing out on the tarky clause just so he could have 50k quick in his pocket.

He's a failed business man and has single handedly destroyed this club.

How on earth can you suggest he's done an alright job? He's devious and unfair.

Some serious allegations there, I for one hope this post is taken down before it damages the board.

Why post then or feel the need to question other posters, your obviously close to the bloke to be bothered so much about the criticism, as for this forum being I'm the gutter you should be more concerned of where our chairman and board have dragged us.

Just throwing this into the pot - and it's something that will be covered in "questions for Chairman". I don't pretend to know anything about the full corporate structures involved at Latics but we are seeking clarification on this when we meet the Chairman.

BUT if what some are saying on here about assets being placed in different companies is true that actually might be a very good tactic which protects the club in the event of insolvency i.e. if OA(2014)AFC Ltd (the club) were to be placed into Administration, it may hold few tangible assets - and therefore even its liquidation (and it would more than likely be a CVA out of Administration) might not be disastrous - because the more valuable assets would be held by different corporate entities (which themselves wouldn't be subject of Administration).

It's all quite possible - it's certainly happened before where clever businessmen have structured smartly to "spread risk". Simple fact is, we don't really know, it's all guesswork but we have a chance to get some answers on the 24th. Personally that date can't come soon enough.

People have said it time and time again...Blitz is the bank and Corney is the administrator...they are finding every way of recouping their investments whilst trying to balance the revenues of the football club.

They acknowledge that a successful football club (or at least one that balances its books) is important but they do have other revenue streams and assets that they are willing to cash in on and is their priority. They have done a lot of this since Blitz lost interest in the football side.

The problem now is they have stripped so much they are at risk of killing the lifeblood of OAFC and now are facing the club not being able to balance its books. But I imagine this just means that next year our budgets will be cut further with the excuse of dropping a division as the reason and they will add any losses to the sum owed to the banker (or Blitz).

They have two valuations for the club 1) the cost to buy everything which will be valued at whatever sum they see as the minimum they want to recoup (higher cost) 2) the cost to buy the football club and they keep the brassbank income streams (lower cost).

I imagine their price tag for everything is too high and no investor is dumb enough to just want to buy/invest in the club (it would take a lot of investment and a long time to get us out of the mess we have been put in)...that is why it's taking so long to find this mystery buyer!

Someone posted earlier that if we had 6,000 fans every week would Corney be the problem then? The reality is we don't have 6,000 fans a week and the reason for that is people have decided there are better things to waste their lives and money away on. Like it or not life is short and people are realising more and more that we all want to spend our little time on this earth experiencing things that satisfy us and make us happy. Oldham Athletic at this time (and for a long while) has given very few people anything to be happy about (consistently) and that is well and truely the owners fault.

It has been stated on several occasions in the past that, all other things being equal (i.e. average cup runs, odd player sold etc.) we need average home gates of 7,000 to just keep our heads above water financially.

No one is saying that would happen but the fans have passion, drive and care. That goes along way.

Doesn't necessarily pay the bills though (cue wisecracks that we don't do anyway)

You need people militant enough, smart enough and wealthy enough to drive these things, just being passionate won't cut it.

Agree. You would be very surprised at the skills and experience of people out there though. Latics fan base ain't made up entirely of people on the dole with no skills. Some have significant business experience and do posses the attributes needed.

You don't need wealth hence we cut our cloth accordingly.

If you are happy to just have a club to watch then I guess not

If you want to progress then you most certainly do need it.

But that was years ago.

Wage bill has been downsized sharply following blitz walking away and as crowds dropped.

Rochdale don't seem to need 7000 crowds to break even.

It was quoted to me again very recently - we shall have the definitive answer on the 24th hopefully :detectivegm0:

Rochdale' s business model seems to centre around them picking players up for a song, developing them and selling them on for a large profit like Royle did for us. We seem incapable of doing this, or at least getting a decent fee for any gems we do unearth.

And people say we are too big to be admiring how rochdale are being run, yet their improvement in recent seasons seems similar to our golden period. A long term manager and polishing rough diamonds. Add to that an emphasis on youth (something we used to be good at) and there is a platform to build a successful club on.

We are big enough to be doing the same. That's why I have a complete lack of faith in our current ownership, they are slowly suffocating this club to death.

We are dying a death of a thousand cuts.Just wish someone with some clout will rescue us but no one seems willing to invest so our decline wlll continue. Our lost fans will be hard to get back if ever.Fed up with meeting old fans who used to go who have found other things to do and lost the urge to return.
