Placide, at fault for winning goal I think, not much to do.

Bryan, steady again but distribution uncharacteristically poor at times.

Edmundson, really good, reminds me of Phil Jones

Hamer, looks ok, sensible sub though as Dummigan more of a threat.

Wilson, just ok, slowed down a bit this season in my opinion as age catches up.

Pringle, like this lad a lot.

Byrne, clearly as talented as anyone on the pitch, got better and more influential as the game went on.

Gardner, has his critics but nothing wrong tonight, these three should be a very strong midfield unit at this level.

Maouche, nowhere near ready yet.

Davies, ineffective most of the game, better towards the end.

Holloway, battled well, won a lot of flick ons that led to nothing. Got his goal but just ok, should have scored with a header late on.

McLaughlin, much needed pace worried Shrewsbury, good cameo and good to have him back and available.

decent game with both sides wanting to progress. They had a little more guile early on and pace overall but there isn't really much between the two teams. They have the knack of winning this season, we don't. Sat near Wellens, looked really frustrated at the final whistle, must be desparate for a win (and a goalscorer).

Well that's the second time this month at Shrewsbury and not seen Latics outplayed by them but loose by the odd goal both times. Good summary above especially about Edmundson who had a good game against a good striker-ignore some of rubbish spouted about him a poster on another thread-he is a young lad  from THIS club and we should be doing everything we can to help him progress.

Byrne the best player on the pitch tonight.

One thing I will say is that I have seen the future of Latics midfield and it does NOT contain Fane.

Out of interest, would people who have been boycotting the tournament but were planning to go to Wembley if we’d have got there, still gone if Chelsea u23s made the final?

Would have gone but with a heavy heart knowing that it had already been ruined by the scum from the greedy league...genuinely think we should boycott this tournament entirely next season

Some people will, some people won't. They will watch us whatever the competition.

You’ve got to wonder, given how few shots opposition teams are having and how many are resulting in goals whether Placide is the answer?

A lot of them he doesn’t even move for and is rooted to the spot as if he hasn’t been able to see it or been wrong footed.

As time rolls on, it does seem I was right about Placide afterall ??

Is it possible that there could be two under 23 sides in the final? That would be great.

No Chelsea are the only u23 side left. They are the first to get to the Semis.
