The woman wasn't indicative of all Welsh people, and I know for a fact those Welsh speakers who live in Wales absolutely love people learning and trying to speak Cymraeg. Furthermore I'd bet that girl in your anecdote is trying to speak whatever language it is that would help her in her travails, she doesn't have to, but it helps doesn't it. She feels inclusive if she did. The OP can speak whatever language they like, however it's not uncommon for people to try to speak the language of the country that they've moved to, even if it's a little. I think you may have misunderstood me as well. I stated I got the "impression" she would still not like anyone English and I based this on the "we don't like the English so you'd be better off looking in your own country" comment. So, you could be the kindest, friendliest, multi-lingual person in the world but if you don't like someone as soon as you realised they were English then I am almost certain I am correct in my assumption, but you are right I do not know. A couple of years ago, I was very keen on a house (not a second home - my permanent home) near Bala in Wales. I wanted a bit of peace and quiet, the country life etc. Found a lovely detached place at the end of a small lane with breathtaking views, a tributary of the river Dee running in the field full of sheep behind - absolutely idyllic. On a second viewing I tried to engage the lady gardening next door in pleasant conversation - you know just to enquire about the area etc. At first I thought she was deaf as she appeared not to hear what I was saying. After repeating myself 3 times, she turned to me and said (and this is the absolute truth), "Don't you know we speak Welsh around here, we don't like the English so you'd be better off looking in your own country." With that, she turned her back on me and carried on dead heading her plants (or Englishmen she had buried up to their necks in the garden!). Blatant racism if ever I`ve witnessed it - but of course it's not white on black or asian, so nobody gives a damn! Racism is well and truly alive and I wish that the liberalist left would take of their blinkers and see that it emanates from many races towards many others. Did I report it? No? Why? Because the local Heddlu would do nothing about it (as proven by the English man living in Bala town who has had his windows put through umpteen times just for being English). I can see her point. Imagine if everyone down that lane was filled with English because they all moved in to the area in a short period of time. One culture flooding a place will ruin it... Lags
This drive to speak Welsh is a complete waste of time. Name me one other country in the world that will learn the language to communicate or do business with anyone in Wales. Pointless.
oafc1955
Joe Royle stand almost sold out….I hope it’s filled with homers but have a feeling it won’t be…. Can anyone tell me why it wasn’t safer to give Wrexham another 1000 Chaddy End seats instead of having them all round the ground amongst the Latics fans? I think there could be a disaster waiting to happen tomorrow especially if we win the game. What a ridiculous situation….

York fans were fine sitting next to Oldham fans until we scored and then they went mental to get them out, even the ones who had just sat there and not cheered. I wonder if the police will escort Wrexham fans into the Chaddy End like at York as there will be empty seats due to not allocating them all. The point is bringing back a language that was on the brink of extinction, plus Welsh speak English anyway, and that's a good thing too. More than half of the planet is bilingual, so it's not that uncommon for Welsh people to be bilingual - in fact if that's the case (and it is) - those who speak English and Cymraeg aren't the odd ones out. Someone who speaks Cymraeg has access to everything in Wales, plus they also have access to everything in English - and it makes it easier to learn a third language! It's a win all round. Lovely. I know but I have got a feeling that's what they will do. The alternative is turfing them out which will cause more problems outside. When our fans in the York end were allowed back in with us it diffused the tension. It would have become toxic if they had been thrown out . I think they have left that majority of block A in the JR unsold so it acts as a 'buffer' between home and away fans as they tend to do these days. There were a few on the top 3 rows for sale but i suspect these were in and around season ticket holders.
Littlemoor Lad
They're a tiny club that got lucky No one had given them a second thought before the yanks money rolled what little success they've ever tasted. Far bigger club's have brought far more fans and we haven't had half the euphoria being caused here Forget em, I already have.

Like you say all the Welsh people speak English so no need for Welsh. Far better learn Chinese currently.
