  1. Just had a new hard drive fitted and had to have Windows XP reloaded.......I've sorted just about everything to as it was but I have one really annoying problem, when I am scrolling up or down it scrolls in waves instead of a smooth motion....is there a setting I need to change and if so can anyone help?
  2. Really can't see a future for Gregan here if he's not playing....we are unlikely to offer him a coaching role when our assistant manager has whole career experience in the back four!!
  3. What baffles me at the moment is.......we are trying, through the trust, to raise enough money to sign Dikaba on a one year contract and yet new trialists seem to be popping up every week in our reserves. If we unearth another Gem what will we do then? If we have no money.......... then we have no money!!
  4. Corney and the like have been ploughing millions into the club for the last seven years and continue to do so week after week just to keep the club going,.....I don't think it unreasonable that the trust have asked the fans if they would consider offering some sort of financial support in the hope it may make a difference to the playing side and help get us out of this boring division we have been in for the last 16 years. Money is tight at the moment so not everyone like yourself will welcome this move, however, to some fans this club is their life and if they can help in any way possible I'm sure they will!! If you're against the idea then you don't contribute....it's really pretty simple.
  5. We've stagnated and been in decline for over 15 years and the entertainment on show has generally been bloody awful......the floating supporter can watch a premier league/cup/European or championship game nearly every day of the week without moving from his armchair. The fact we've done absolutely nothing and played in the same division during those 15 years has had a massive affect on our support base. Like Dickov says it is up to the players to reignite the interest in the supporters and unfortunately 3 decent games at the begining of a season will not be nearly enough to entice them back. It will be a slow process and our form will have to be pretty consistent until Christmas when a good cup run would bring help to the cause. Remember, during the Joe Royle era it was a cup run that sparked the interest in the late eighties and enabled us to make a sustained bid for promotion the following season. People have got used to not coming to BP and it's hardly a welcoming place these days....it will take more than a few weeks of decent football to halt a 15 year run of decline. I have been in the main stand for the first couple of games and the facilities are really quite shocking for the 21st century...to say it's a depressing experience for a casual supporter is an understatement!!! We need that new stadium to happen by the end of next season, regardless of location, and if we get it we will have half a chance to bring the good times back to the club. If it doesn't happen by then, we may well survive for a few more years but I fear the end for this club as we know it will be just around the corner.
  6. We've had a great start to the season and seen more entertaining football in the three opening games than the whole of last season put together and should be more than thankful for that, however, I don't think we've played anywhere near as well as we could and when everything clicks and falls in to place we are going to absolutely batter one or two of our rivals in this league....if one of them is Yeovil then so be it!!! I really can't remember being this excited about an Oldham team since the Joe Royle era.....if we can be consistent over the next few weeks and stay at or near the top, the confidence within our team, especially the younger players will just grow and grow. If the stayaways would just comeback and take a look at this team they would be dumbfounded, a massive, massive difference in attitude and commitment is there for all to see. I know it's very early days and there's a long long way to go but I reckon this team could prove to be as good as anything in this league and has the potential to go all the way.
  7. Presuming it is a write off we should get paid up by the insurance.....it would be pointless to erect again if we are moving to a new stadium. It would depend totally on answering the big question...... how long before we move!!!!!
  8. What's this all about....Sour grapes or what!!!! Oldham looked happy with a point. Their spoiling tactics were infuriating. Not sure why we backed off after taking the lead. Frustrating game ******************* it was ridiculous, never have i hated a team as much as the oldham lot. They were niggly, overly rough, time-wasting, hateful, evil, rage-inducing northerners. Our link up play was excellent, martin wagstaff and reid are a real handful and interchange positions with ease. Abbott just needs to score one and he'll go on and score 15-20 this season. However i have a problem with the backline, jackson doherty llera francis. They're not quick enough. Francis was really poor in my eyes, hoofed every ball, miss many headers and tackles, and got beaten for pace far too many times. If oldham finish in the top 2, i will give up watching football and move to ballet instead. I truly think we will be playoffs at least, we have the footballers and the passion to do it. One last note, the cock that hammered the ball at our bench deserves to be banned for a couple of months, and sodomised with a corner flag. Now I didn't go to the game but with 10 shots to their 5 and hitting the woodwork twice and an effort hacked off the line if we had won 3 1 I don't think it would have been an injustice!!
  9. The only reason Stephens and Lee made the team is because of injuries otherwise they would still be in the reserves now!!!! Yes, he signed Abbott and Furman but the law of averages says he had to get a couple right, all the rest were a bloody disaster. Christ, we almost became known as Oldham nil, you say Penney had his strengths....just what were they exactly?
  10. I still don't know why he left....care to PM with the info?
  11. I can't believe this guy's only been in the job less than two months....he's has such confidence and assurance during interviews and already I think we have unearthed a real gem. The vasy majority of this squad were here under Penney and the improvement in effort, entertainment, and goalscoring is there for all to see.....his enthusiasm and drive is certainly rubbing off on the players. It will most likely be the same team on Saturday as he says the current players have earned the right to be in the 1st eleven with their desire and workrate and obviously winning start to the season. The young lads must be thrilled to know that if they continue to perform they will stay in the team...... and what a difference that should make to their confidence!! Chris Taylor, when fit, was a nailed on starter in last season's team however he is now having to bust a gut just to get involved! That sort of healthy competition has got to be good for this club and long may it continue!!!
  12. And you've worked that out after the first game of the season!!!! Abbott was crap after xmas and clearly wasn't fully fit, Tounkara is in a similar situation and needs games and will get better when he gets a few under his belt. Judge him in a month or so but not after only 90 minutes!!
  13. So at a guess they have probably sold around 400/500 advance tickets and it seems our season ticket holders have been forced to move for nothing! The small portion of the RRE would have been more than adequate.................they were never going to bring in excess of 1300 anyway.
  14. Just read an article where Thompson said he was grateful to Latics for getting him an operation to repair a longstanding Knee ligament injury he had been carrying from his Forest days. He broke down 7 times with the injury and was sidelined for 3 to 4 months each time, surely an injury record as bad as that should have been investigated more thoroughly before any contract was signed. With Rob Purdie also reputedly arriving with a pelvic injury and yet to play a 1st team game you have to ask the question...Who the hell is it that carries out the medicals on behalf of our club!!
  15. In an interview on Latics World Dickov states that the club will stand by him and support his recovery.
  16. Pretty sure County were allocated the large section as they were expecting to bring a large following.........I don't think they will bring enough to fill the smaller section and would suggest that the fans will have been moved for nothing..........we shall see! Anybody have any indications of their expected turn out?
  17. Whenever I read your posts I feel like slitting my wrists.......Do you actually support this club?
  18. We won't be paying a fee for a player but he will probably be able to strengthen the squad if need be.........don't forget we still have players on trial so must be looking to add numbers. It would help if we could shift some of the listed players before the end of the window!
  19. Undisclosed fees really get my back up.....it's totally unnescesary and fans have a right to know, it's all part of supporting your club!!!
  20. On his way already after only 9 months............they say his position will be advertised but I can't help thinking it's another cost cutting job. He's seen the departure of three directors and the main source of our finances whilst he's been here. Frustration maybe........comments anybody?
  21. Don't think Kopperberg or Bulmers is included in the deal!!
  22. Of course it's a bonus, but a cup run to the fourth or fifth round could be the difference between a poor budget and a competitive one next season. Don't forget next seasons budget will be determined in part by our successes this campaign.
