singe
Stick a massive Latics badge on the buildings? I am still trying to work out if keeping the Failsworth site seperate and no LAtics identity was actually viewed as a good thing...
SholverBlue
the Roughyeds should come and groundshare Yeah, would be great if us and Roughyeds had a proper home. They could put a bit of money in aswell.

oafcprozac
not many people (if any actually) agree with me on this sholver . . . me and you are mates Agree, surely there'd be more clout within the council and more townsfolk would rally behind a dual-use stadium. It's crap that the 'yeds are having to play at the Whitebank. Huddersfield, Wigan, Doncaster and Hull have shown the way.
boundaryblue80
I tell you what I'd like to see in any new stadium plans (not sure if it is allowed or feasible but...) a Casino. Yeah, there's a couple in Manchester, but with the plans that there were in Manchester for this Super Casino that got shelved, clearly those who were pushing for it see the market in the area for Casinos so couldn't we incorporate one into a new stadium? I've no idea how possible the idea might be but I'd liked to think if it was, it would bring in a decent revenue stream for the Latics. More so than any football pitches would do. al_bro
what would eb the point of that when we cant even fill what we have at the moment? I wouldnt even be surprised if the capacity was just over 10k, but given our average gate in this division I would much rather build an expandable stadium of a 10,000 capacity (expandable to 16k) and put money into making the stadium look nice and stand out, rather than put the money into empty seats which will only be used once in a blue moon* If we are playing in the championship then by all means, build it for 16k, but whilst we are in this division 10k is more than enough. It would surely be cheaper to build the 16000 seat stadium now. If we do go up in the next few years we may have to pay out for planning permission and the cost of alterations to allow for expansion. It wouldn't do much for the pitch though. Most teams who share with rugby teams have bad pitches.

I have always said that forget the Beal Valley "golf course" and build a joint OAFC/ORLFC stadium was the answer.
leeslover
Can I be your friend too ? I would love Roughyeds and Latics to share a decent stadium. If I'm brutally honest, I verge between sort of wishing the Yeds well because they have Oldham in the name, and not giving a toss, partly because I don't care about Rugby, and partly because I have concerns about pitch mangling which aren't balanced by finances or thinking the rugby fans care about the football. I have wondered in the various development plans though whther we might not come out with a training ground that had a couple of thousand seats that could hold rugby, our youth and reserve games and training, plus be available for other options. outoftheblue
anyone would think you worked near there... It's fair to say I have large numbers of files containing information about the land, contamination issues, and business relocation costs for that area. It hasn't passed me by how much money I could make by offering secure match day parking if the club relocated to Hollinwood! I reckon your dad might want a piece of that venture too, though! If we do go up in the next few years we may have to pay out for planning permission and the cost of alterations to allow for expansion. Personally, I would think the problem of selling out a 12,000 stadium on a regular basis is a fantastic problem to have and it would probably mean that we would be in a great position to extend the stadium if allowable. I'm not sure on what basis it can be considered cheaper to build a larger stadium now, given that our attendences are not that large it would (a) cost more to build and ( cost more to maintain. It's more important for the club to ensure that their are other income streams coming into the club e.g. hospitality, conferences, hotel, casino, pub and restaurant which is much more achievable. LaticsPete
Is there a minimum capacity for Champions League matches? Ok, I know I'm being fanciful. Europa league then

If we do go up in the next few years we may have to pay out for planning permission and the cost of alterations to allow for expansion. It would be more expensive to build a 16k one now, but cheaper cost to build than in two stages. However, the running costs over that time, may well mean that it is not cheaper. I think if you took the number of times we have exceeded 12,000 since the year 1900, it would be about 1%! THe number of times we could have sold out 16,000, about 0.01%, and then the numbers of 4,000 @ 15 is a drop in the ocean. It would take about 25 seasons to pay for itself assuming we were in the top flight all that time. Notwithstanding the expected drop in attendances predicted. singe
Ha ha, Simon knows ya know I'll give you a little clue!! There are two sites on offer, both have been offered previously!! Now would OMBC allow themselves to be dragged through the courts or go out of their way to 'assist' OAFC in keeping the club in the borough's confines? You know you know How does Simon know? At best he has been informally told, and he has not attended a meeting on Weds, and refuses to talk to them. MEN article There has never been a more apt time to sign the petition

You keep having your little snipes but i know you're going to end up with a massive amount of egg on your face. Now, this is my last comment on the matter!! Our future is secured, we will play at BP until 2014 or until the new stadium is constructed and you need to learn to separate any issues you might have with me and just consider that i might just be talking sense. I've not changed my stance from day one, i was the first to offer anything of substance and the first to try and calm the depressive and submissive mood on here. Everything I have said has been more or less confirmed by the council's statement, when Corney finally picks his dummy back up and sits down to talk then all will be clear!! End of as far as i'm concerned!!! That is until i rub yer nose in it big time when it's finally confirmed Believe!!!!!

garcon
blah blah I know more than you blah Look, either spill the beans with details and sources or shut the :censored: up. Nobody is going to think any more of you if your vague ramblings turn out to be somewhere near the truth, because nobody will care. I know you probably think having inside info (if you actually have any of worth) and cryptically drip feeding it makes you somehow special, but frankly it doesn't. It just makes you tedious. Even if your info is genuine.

Cheers smartz, you know I knew you knew, but you have hit the nail on the head for my gripe. Is Corney playing hardball or spitting his dummy out. It's a fine line. Lots of twists and turns yet though. He can play as hard ball as he likes, the harder the better for my money. I'll beleive it when it's in black and white, and when the first ball is kicked. I absolutely concur that you were the first to come up with anything substantial, but it goes further, you are the only one. Which is why an element of doubt has crept it. Nothing will please me more than some joint statement.
