David Cameron "I am granting the Metropolitan Police emergency powers to use water cannons, rubber bullets and tear gas to take back control of our streets from these poncing parasites biting the hand that feeds them. In addition I am deploying the British Army as a visible presence to provide the authority that is so very lacking.".....Carlsberg don't do Prime Ministers but if they did.............

Yes, i have interviewed people for jobs recently. I dont think many of the rioters applied, and i'm not sure they would have the right sort of attitude we were looking for.

I thought you decided before the interviews who would get the job. It's not that you'd never know about what kind of attitude they'd have, just that you wouldn't have cared anyway. There are other people like you in the world - in the unforgiving world of the jobseeker.

Oh, and if they want the same spending power as people who have a job: get a :censored:ing job. We dont go to work for fun.

They probably want a job. They can't get one. They can't see a way of getting one. It is known that such people occasionally commit acts of public disorder. They sometimes can't get a :censored:ing job because the person deciding who gets the :censored:ing job has already decided who he/she wants to get the :censored:ing job.

Off the high horse please. I appointed a truly excellent candidate to a role, after telling everyone who mattered that i was close friends with said person and basically putting my reputation on the line as to how they would perform. This within a very close and specialised industry. My judgement has been vindicated. I've been out of work myself. Not as a lifestyle choice in some obscure protest against managers wanting their PA to be fit, but i have been.

I went to Tesco Westwood before and they'd shut the petrol station and were closing the supermarket. Sainsburys was open as usual though. And Union St busy with most takeaways doing brisk trade to Muslims who must have been finishing their fast.

Interview with a shop owner on on BBC24 is heart breaking.

I know many on here are dismissive of Manchester but I love it. I'm proud of having spent ten years living in and around the city. It's a wonderful place.

These :censored:s are scum. :censored: them. :censored: them hard.

This is where i feel that years in prison misses the point. It's harder there days when a lot of criminals have no income other than what our taxes give them, but i would rather the criminal worked to pay their victims. Chain gangs would be an option, and i'm not exaggerating for effect.

We've had prison for years, we had the death penalty or transportation to Australia alongside it yet people are still breaking the law, where are we going wrong? I have absolutely no idea, I could fill the rest of this post with pinko liberal clap trap but what's the point?

Tony Blair was right when he said "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" and we all know he failed on this and it was only a soundbite but that shouldn't detract from the fact that this is exactly what a leader of a western nation should be directing their attention on. Reacting to criminal acts is a failed idea, police states, water cannons, rubber bullets, robust policing.. yadda yadda are tired, failed nonsense.

Sociological effects are much derided but everything else has failed, why not give these a proper try? Kids growing up in concrete crime dens bombarded with consumerist advertising and having the american dream (or British version) rammed down their throats is creating a pretty :censored: society to live in.
