Bristolatic
Irwin. No brainer, but Ian Wood a bloody close second.

stargazer
Irwin was that good that lots of United fans still don't know he was playing on the 'wrong' side of the pitch for them his entire careeer with them..
lancy lad
Irwin was that good that lots of United fans still don't know he was playing on the 'wrong' side of the pitch for them his entire careeer with them.. Ferguson said for years that he was easily the first name on their team sheet!
archiecat
Irwin without doubt, Big Joe got lucky with him but Fergie swam the channel.
rudemedic
Irwin, did he ever play LB for us? If so I'd have him there so I can play Fleming.

Andyt84
Fleming as I don't remember Irwin apart from when he played for the scum.
Luis Enrique
my memory must be playing tricks on me. I thought gunnar played the vast majority of games at right back? I am getting on a bit tho...
Laticacid
Good as some are / were , only 1 went on to win a few premierships and a champions league. Not just our best right back, one of our best ever players in my book .
Canada_latic
I think Andy Barlow had a spell at right back too? Although Craig Fleming would be a close second to Irwin, just because he kept a young Ryan Giggs very quiet on a couple times we played United. Stagger Lee
Irwin. No brainer, but Ian Wood a bloody close second. Ian Wood was as solid as a rock - devastated when he left us because he easily had another season left in him. But Denis Irwin was a genuine world class player, a full back that did not hoof the ball clear but always passed to a team mate, had all the time in the world on the ball , and the timing of his tackles was like a skilled surgeon. lookersstandandy
I don't want to give it to him, cos it hurt to see him a red shirt for only £650k. Ferguson truly robbed us.... But Irwin was our best ever full back.
