Lee Sinnott Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Seeing as though LJ looks like he's abandoning ship, who are we seeing as realistic candidates for the job..?
SavageTheBeast Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Start them off Ian Dowie Paul Scholes Uwe Rosler and James Beattie but my choice Neal Ardley from Winbledon
jsslatic Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Isn't James Beattie's record crap? It'd be whoever the cheapest option is.
Lee Sinnott Posted February 24, 2015 Author Posted February 24, 2015 I'd imagine early contenders would be : Wright (if he doesn't go) Philliskirk Lockwood Holden Laws.
Twisbrogan Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 It will be from within. We're still in a half decent position at the moment so you'd argue that major upheaval isn't required but, if things take a big downturn, we only need a small handful of wins to secure our position for next season. Hardly the time to take a gamble so it'll be between Tommy Wright and a Dean Holden/ Tony P combo.
hollinwood_pass Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Jurgen Kloop? wears a nice line in spectacles that would be good sellers in the club shop ... if we still had one
SavageTheBeast Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Paul Tisdale would do for me. Yep I would say that but I don't see him leaving Exeter anytime soon
Latics_Fanatic Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Would Tommy want the top job, or is he more suited to being an assistant. It'll be a young, fresh and most probably cheap option.
SavageTheBeast Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Gary Johnson What about your uncle ;)
pukka Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Want - Sean O'Driscoll Expect - Either Dean Holden / Tommy / TP to be promoted or another recently retired player to get it
bozman Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Expect Philliskirk until end of season. Barnsley fans seem to think TW and DHL are going with him.
the_mighty_bosh Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Yep I would say that but I don't see him leaving Exeter anytime soon ^^This. I'm a fan of his but his tactics can really frustrate fans and, more importantly, he has a very comfortable contract down this way.
wogghead1 Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 TP until end of season then see where we are
oafc-latics Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Paul Murray wouldn't be a terrible choice. Knows the team fairly well and wasn't given a fair chance at Hartlepool who look doomed anyway. He'd probably not take another season to make the squad his either, given that he'll have had a part in bringing most of them to the club. EDIT: I'd still want someone like Tommy Wright as his assistant for a bit of experience. Edited February 24, 2015 by oafc-latics

longtimeblue Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Royle until the end of the season. Didn't work for Royle last time but I'd still be buzzing for the last 15 or so games with him having another crack. Wanted Dowie when Johnson got it so I'd happily have him back too.
Latics_Fanatic Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 Paul Murray would be far from my first choice. Back in as First Team Coach if Holden leaves yes, manager, no thanks.
josh_latics Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 If LJ goes, I think we'll go for a similar system. First time manager, lots of coaching badges, supported by Tommy and Locky.
Handsy Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 One thing for certain is it won't be anybody who is in work at the moment ,we won't be paying compensation so have a guess at someone from within or recently sacked at say a club like barnsley
rudemedic Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) Dickie Dosh- just to save Bosch the time of adding his name. Peter Taylor- he has got at least one side out of this division the right way. Chris Powell- also got someone promoted, but spent big to do it. This list from 2013 is a "full" list of those who got someone promoted since 2004, the circumstances have changed for some since then. http://www.owtb.co.uk/index.php/topic/41207-managers-who-have-got-a-team-out-of-this-godforsaken-division/?p=599849 You can add Bryan Flynn/Dean Saunders, Mark Warburton, Eddie Howe, and Steve Evans to it now. Flynn/Saunders would be available- the others not so Edited February 24, 2015 by rudemedic
