4froale Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I'll never forget the celebration for the winner in the 5-4 against posh, right decision though given his injury record. Quote
cav Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Shame. Good player tho prone to the odd cock up. Quote
adamoafc Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Surprising considering we don't have a manager for next season to make those decisions.... Quote
Blue_Guru Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Surprising considering we don't have a manager for next season to make those decisions.... Or don't we? Adds weight to Holden sticking around Quote
opinions4u Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Surprising considering we don't have a manager for next season to make those decisions.... Unless the player had no interest in staying Quote
josh_latics Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Strange. He always scores vs Posh, should have kept him for that! I liked Kusunga, yeah he cocked up occasionally, but he was a decent centre-half, and was brought in and out of the team, never given a consistent run. Big indicator it'll be Holden. Surely we shouldn't be making any contract decisions whilst we don't have a manager, unless it's Holden. Quote

Stevie_J Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Was crap in most games I saw him but I appreciate I've seen him far less than most. With our budget we can't afford to carry players with an injury record like his. Quote
ChaddySmoker Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 If we can save 3 months wages on any fringe player it wouldnt be the decision of a caretaker or any potential future manager. Where's Mellor-less wages? Quote
Stevie_J Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 If we can save 3 months wages on any fringe player it wouldnt be the decision of a caretaker or any potential future manager. Where's Mellor-less wages? We won't have saved 3 months' wages; Latics will have paid up most of the remainder of his contract in settlement. Quote
josh_latics Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 See O4U post. Unless the player had no interest in staying Appreciate that, but it's no more a theory than mine! Quote
Crusoe Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Since any decision on which players stay or go would be subject to budget limitations and ratified by Corney, it wouldn't surprise me if Corney's decided this one himself, manager or no manager. Quote
singe Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 We won't have saved 3 months' wages; Latics will have paid up most of the remainder of his contract in settlement. Unless he's agreed to go for nowt, and Johnson signs him as a free agent...! Quote
opinions4u Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Lump sum payment to the end of June I'd assume No appearance fee. National insurance cost reduced. Quote
NewBlue Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Thought he made a decent right back and centre back. Good versatility and a bit of a shame he couldn't play regularly. His Champions League experience will be sorely missed. He will forever be the best Swiss-Angolan Oldham Athletic player. Decision is understandable with his injury problems, not sure who has made it though; unless he asked to leave this may say Holden has the job. Quote
leeslover Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Thought he made a decent right back and centre back.He gave me the :censored:s at CB but we've had worse at RB (including others with Champions league experience). Woeful in midfield. I don't dislike him but I'm not exactly gutted. Quote
Macca Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I think he was probably on his way out soon anyways after the bad results in December and LJ leaving him out of the squad entirely. Might just be a mutual decision so he can head back to Switzerland, if he already said he wanted to head back then the decision is already made. Quote
brierleys555 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I won't miss him however he does get the glory for the 5-4 winner v posh Quote
Keepingthe Faith Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Good luck to the lad that posh winner will be forever remembered ....................Hopefully this is clearing the way for a bid to sign Gerrard with money from the inevitable selling of one or two of our better players in the summer. I don't think it means Holden as got the job though.......more likely imho that SC or even a new manager pulled the strings. Quote
Twisbrogan Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I think more decisions of this nature are made at board level (at many clubs) than people would realise. Quote
byrnes boots Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Whoever the new manager is he could have said release him that's presuming he's been watching Quote
oafc1955 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Pretty sure his injury record (club) and a wish to start again somewhere else (player) will have made this decision inevitable. He was a good and versatile squad member when fit but I guess he was on decent money and we can't afford to carry players who are on the treatment table more than the pitch. I'm pretty sure this would have happened regardless of who the new manager is. Quote
deyres42 Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I think more decisions of this nature are made at board level (at many clubs) than people would realise. Spot on. Agents run the game these days, everyone should know that by now. Quote
