Does this mean he now gets his season ritual of two games to save his season?

Two games where he performs well, stakes a claim for a place in the team next season and then plays another 5 games next year?

Where's he been and why all of a sudden start him? Hope he gets his chance in midfield because he ain't no left back.

He's been on loan in the conference making little or no impact it's a swan song.

He needs to leave in the summer he's been around the first team now for 4 years and hasn't progressed beyond being a fringe player. He can't stay a reserve for his life it's time he moved on.

Well that's what I was thinking and where I stood with it all.. but then he starts today and probably next Sunday - so why would he if his time was up? strange

One up front again, 2 holding midfielders, a goal down already, has Holden a plan B?

Update;

Two down, no plan at all it seems.

As said, a negative mindset in a game where the way loyal away fans should have been given an attacking treat.

I don't want this attitude from a future manager, whoever he is.

That was a really poor performance. Why start with both Dieng and Kelly as holding players? that was always going to be dull. Mellor looks too slow for me now and should be released. Likewise Lockwood.

Brown is ok but must stop going to ground to win free kicks (by cheating), one outrageous fall in the box which I don't want to see.

Penalty felt like a tough decision against us so will be interesting to see again We need to stop playing Jones out wide, get him into the game more in the middle.

Much better ball retention when Winchester on for Dieng in the second half but no threat at all on goal, their goalkeeper had to amuse himself by doing a diving header, probably just to keep warm.

Shot shy again and will need addressing for next season if we are to threaten the top six.

You have a better idea of what to do than the manager.

I'd say it's pretty clear that was a swansong for Mellor. I don't know but I suspect there might be a physical reason he hasn't pushed on.

LJ murdered him publicly and hung him out to dry after that match when he said something along the lines of 'mellor can't run, something wrong in his head' (or words to that affect) and he never recovered for it!

Are you blaming LJ for Mellor being :censored: because Mellor was :censored: well before LJ turned up. If he can't recover from his manager criticising him then its just another reason to get rid...

Nope not blaming but it will have certainly contributed to low confidence.

Well played today. Far from the problem, one of our better performers.

Not having that Gaz. Think he managed to complete a pass to a blue shirt twice in 90 minutes.

The Manager has no right to tell any one of our players that they are :censored:, its up to OWTB.

Then my point stands. Too many players in flip flops today and didn't think he was one. Jones, Winny, poleon, dieng big time.

Can only have played Mellor because his future has not been decided. There is a good player in there but I'm not sure it will ever surface again. Expect him to still be here next season. Somewhat disappointed we didn't have a go at a team that is no better than us. The 90 minutes spoilt a good day out!

I've always wanted Mellor to succeed.

But I can't see anything that justifies getting another contract at this level.

If there ever was potential it's not showing now. Free the wage up for other youngsters to have a chance.

Ditto a real shame as clearly had talent but doesnt look strong enough or good enough.

He looked both strong AND good alongside Korey Smith the only time he had a decent run in the side

Depends how cheap he is, and if Corney wants to help out the bloke building the new stand by extending the contract of his future son-in-law or not.

Mellor is a reasonable squad utility player, so is always a good sort to have on the bench. I would be very tempted to send him to whoever diagnosed Danny Philliskirk's hypoglycemic problem first though.
