Others with DK's inexperience...

Recommended Posts

It strikes me that a big problem for some people regarding Darren Kelly is that he has so little playing experience at a decent level.

He has good coaching badges and he isn't the first young former player to get an early chance at management.

I will give him time and I hope the board do too. Joe Royle (although clearly a better player) got plenty of time. He needed it before he achieved success.

There are plenty of others who have gone into management with little or no experience of playing at a high level. I'm not for a moment suggesting that DK will achieve what some of these have, but if he doesn't get a chance...

Graham Taylor

Gerard Houllier

Jose Mourhino

Brendan Rodgers

Sven Goran Eriksen

Arsene Wenger

Andre Villas-Boas

Roy Hodgeson

Have a look at their achievements.

I look forward to the long, long list of inexperienced failures!

Lee Johnson! 3 years ago he was barely working, scraping by earning a living as an elf in the seedy underworld of the Santa's grotto scene around December time only.Banging on about his 25 days to Christmas plan he had...

Look at him now in Yorkshire where they already don't like him but at least nobody likes him all year round. Not just at Christmas...

What a success story!

Not strictly true. He racked up over 200 appearances as a lower league goalkeeper.

He started his managerial career at Bangor City where he was for 3 years winning the league of Wales twice when his playing days ended. Edited by stevesidg

There are lots of people on here that have never played football at any recognisable level and have no qualifications who are qualified to make detailed technical analysis of our players, performances and tactics.

Not sure that there is any blue print that will guarantee success in football management. Plenty of players of exceptionally high ability and experience have gone into football management and failed.

I do wonder if the increase in the UEFA coaching badges has any influence on success or not as it is something that our board seem to value. Do managers with the badge have a more success than those without overall statistically? Its something I'd imagine the people pushing the courses would be keen to show.
