Changes Nothing

Recommended Posts

I know there's a bit of a feel good factor now with this squad (I haven't seen them play this season so I can't comment) and that's all well and good but in my opinion nothing has changed in regards to the owner and board. They're still going to be f***ing us over and being content with just existing as a football club and people just seem to forget about it all after a couple of good results. The atmosphere was so toxic after Sheridan left and we were reduced to 6 squad members (and rightly so). It's been the worst couple of seasons in my life of being a Latics fan on and off the field.

I just feel like the bigger issue is getting ignored again and the sooner we are rid of this owner who has no degree of care for the club whatsoever, the better. Won't be renewing my season ticket until he's gone and there's a new structure in place with a clear view on how the club is going to be taken forward in the long term.

Until a buyer comes in with the appropriate funds then unfortunately we are stuck with him and his cronies.....It appears hell will freeze over first but never give up hope.

It's a debate. Just seeing how people feel.

You said yourself there's a bit of a feel good factor around, no need to :censored: on that after 4 games. Having seen us on Tues and on Sat, it's clear to me that we've got some very capable players here, more so than this point last season. We're not the finished article and we're a work in progress, let's give them time to show what they can do. We've drowned ourselves in negativity since LJ left and there'll probably be plenty more opportunities to do so, but right now let's just relax and see what unfolds.

Not even a proper fan. Even if you fall out with the club, you still support the team on the pitch, turn up and cheer them on.

Totally agree. He blames the board yet refuses to back the club himself by contributing to the gate receipts and then feels he can contribute by slating the owners. People like him are part of the problem, not the solution!!!

Who are you to question my support for a club I've supported all my life?

Who do you propose replaces him, just out of interest?

Corney has brought in what looks like a very good off the pitch team. Some very good signings knowing how small our budget will be. If there's a good atmosphere then that means Corney has done something right? Doing the right thing bringing Sheridan in last season and it's early doors but this management team including O'driscoll. Yes it was toxic when sheridan left but was that Corneys fault? We don't know why he left. There were plenty claiming they were in the know and it was because we were going bust. Good sources there. People like you really piss me off. If we do well under Robinson will you still stay away until Corney goes? 99% sure it won't happen but what would you do if we got to playoffs this season? You'd be there like everyoke else.

How about we all just enjoy the good atmosphere that has been created by Corneys appointment and his subsequent signings?

The club's made a lot of mistakes, especially last year and after the end of last season. I think we all agree.

"Just surviving,' though, should always be the main priority. With the exception of a few years, we've always been about survival. Sad, but true, and true of many, many other clubs in the lower leagues. SC has just about kept us afloat, but he has promised to sell once we have the right buyer. I think/hope he'll keep his word. In the meantime, and for most of our recent history, we are what we are. This is a club based on the community of fans who like to socialise and enjoy a game of football. Winning has always been an unexpected bonus. If it's all about winning, well, let's be honest, we have the biggest and richest clubs down the road. We are different (i like to think 'special'). I can't, for the life of me, understand why people claim to be supporters but adopt some kind of moral position and decide to punish the thing they are supposed to love by staying away. You're not punishing SC. You're undermining your own club. I really don't get it.

BTW, this is the most promising manager i've seen at work for a long time. The positive feeling is due to his hard work. We should support him and the team. Our team. Our club.

You cant understand it because it makes no sense.

I suspect its just an excuse for a lazy supporter that doesn't actually think football is worth it any more... which is fine...

Just don't spoil it for the rest of us who get behind the team rain or shine, cash or no cash, Corney or Stott.

I can't imagine how any true supporter could feel so strongly about Corney they would stay away. It's not like he's Chris Moore. He keeps the club going he doesn't completely :censored: us over.
