No thank you, Rob Lee wasnt interested in latics previously why would he be now? Speed just say no.

This appointment is a hard one. Unless ok with budget from day 1 cant see anyone making it work.

Hill at Dale is asking for a million more on his budget to survive.

Tends to push us in direction of Bunn, Butt etc. Think Gannon now more likely to be in Stockport job.

What is the difference between Butt and Speed that you know of in management/coaching ability?

As for Lee not being interested in a player meaning that he has no interest as a coach/manager, well I don't really know where to start on that one.

Gary Speed and Rob Lee would have the connections needed between them to pull in some good young loan players from the greedy league, we have no money to splash out on transfers so i guess Gannon would just have to work with what he already has if he is appointed and i guess he would be considered to be doing a good job if we just survived. Butt would also have decent contacts with all of the ex Man Utd managers in control of big clubs but using the loan system well is the only realistic chance we have of gaining a top 6 place, look at Blackpool they got out of league 1 by using about 5 of there own players and once again last week it was loan players that did the job at Forest.

I'm just picturing Ardiles developing John Worthington in to the next Messi.

I'd settle for the new Ardiles. If Butt wants to manage it would make sense IMO, the likes of Bruce and the Guvnor started at small clubs and got rapidly promoted above their ability due to the big name player factor.

In a total aside I saw Ricky Villa in a porno once, and I will go to my grave maintaining it was him.

My Dad was having a chat with a former Latics player in his local who is now part of the coaching team at a nearby club and he said Gannon has definately applied and he hopes he gets it so he can come across as part of the coaching team (doesn't mean that Gannon won't be off to Stockport if they sort themselves out though). I'm not naming any names but some of you ought to be able to guess.

That's the big risk of appointing Gannon.

The County situation should become clearer in the next 14 days.

Personally, I think Latics is a perfect fit for Gannon as manager and, if he's given the choice, he'd be better off at BP.

If he's contracted then he'd have to 'bought' - not a bad thing...

I was speaking to a member of the Latics board (a few of you will know who), and the shortlist is down to five. Gannon, Bunn, Butt, Gray and, very surprisingly, Justin Edinburgh!

They are hoping to appoint a new manager within the next two weeks.

Well they havent asked Grey to leave which tends to lean to the fact that he will be on the shorlist.

Or in another way- worth further consideration

The feeling I was getting last night was that Gray will get it. Hope I'm wrong though!

Sorry but if he gets it there'll be uproar, that's why I'm prepared to wait and pay an extra £30 for my ST, we binned Penney, we binned Collett, Gray should have been right behind.
