He blatantly hasn't thought it through and is picking and choosing whichever stats suit his argument while dismissing the fact that, eg. Liverpool have regularly fielded 6 Englishmen this season. The England team is no worse now than it was in the 70's or even 1994 when most Premier League players were still English and we didn't qualify. Indeed - We didn't qualify twice in the 70's. Give it to the amateur and grass roots level and to the people up and down the country who spend their spare time coaching junior football. Yes it wont be challenging at the moment but that is more down to the fact that a lot of good players have aged and we are in a transitional stage. There are still many good English players at the top level, enough to form a decent national team and we can still hold our own. To actually win something we probably need a successful English club side with a core of 6 or 7 great English players that can star for club and country, who know each others game inside out, like Barcelona and Spain. This will be more down to luck than anything. Maybe the money for winning the Premier League should increase for every English player who has played more than 75% of games, these clubs are motivated by money. Back to the real world they could do a lot worse than invest in grass routes and training additional coaches needed throughout the game rather than this stupid B team idea. If they really want B teams make the big clubs enter them at the bottom of the pyramid with different names and grounds, bound by the same transfer rules as anyone else. So it can afford to attract the best players from around the world. This pushes English players down the leagues. Regardless of that, England will continue to be in the top 16 nations out of over 200 when it comes to rankings. The proposed solution doesn't change that. The wealth will remain. The overseas players will still come. A few ideas from me: 1) Supporters of Football League clubs to get rid of Sky Sports - as a fan I can control this. 2) The FA to levy 25% on all future TV deals and distribute this money down the pyramid for coaching and youth development - two thirds to the Football League and the rest to the non-league pyramid. 3) An additional levy of 25% of any transfer fee, wage or marketing incentive paid to a non-EU national playing at any level and distributed as in point 2. 4) A proper reserve league to be set up for Premier League clubs where participation ends on relegation. We will not become world champions because of anything Dyke and his cronies implement, if the talent is there at the same time, ie 20 players who are outstanding all coming through at the same time, perhaps just perhaps, we could challenge. Unfortunately we seem to have 3 or 4 world class and the rest are adequate. Dyke should go back to introducing rats to save daytime TV. They have no idea about football outside their own millionaire world. Surley Dario Gradi must have been against it? How much English talent has he helped produce that made it to the top proving that it is possible without all this bull:censored:! Simple rule change. All teams Premier or otherwise in England must play 4 English born players in their starting 11. Watch them improve! Used to have a similar rule in Europe 20 years back. United used to have to drop Schmeical Cantona, Kanchelkis etc for British lads like Phealan and Blackmore.....
