Latics_Fanatic
Christ. Speculation and miscalculation come to mind, on both ends. I'd love to see the moaners of OWTB try and run Latics bettter than Simon Corney has these past few years. You might run things differently, but i heavily suspect you'd come to significantly worse results.
NewBlue
as one of the singing fans. there are no plans to go into the new stand. and we will move together to either paddock or chaddy when rocky rd closed. and its nothing to do with the club we have a better, and it will be better singing section. and its defo not luck. Well you should have plans to move there if they close the RRE for home fans. It's the only place you'll get heard.

yarddog73
Although a lot wont agree with the post is the man up to the job ? is his heart still in it he has had some knocks and even last season stated he would walk away if we went down, its okay the manager and barry to an extent trying to rally the troops that are left and I applaud them for that but when the main man has given up hope and a deafeatest attitude it snowballs down it might be a reason some are disenchanted, I know it may not be his style but maybe he should give it a go and try to be positive and enthusiastic. real
So get something better for a lesser price? I don't suppose you know where I can get a new BMW 1 Series for less than my Ford Focus do you? I don't suppose you know anyone who'd let me quote a selling price of £17k for a new Ford but then end up charging them £25k do you? It seems some are happy with this sort of thing, so it's probably a good way to do business. And what's more, I can delay delivery and blame it on...erm... the mildest winter in the last 10 years. You seem to be up for the deal. Whilst some people clearly try to find fault with the club at every turn, some seem to be unable to find fault with the club whatever they do. Actually that's quite realistic; if you go into a Ford garage looking for a car advertised at £17k, chances are you would have spent £25k by the time you've chosen a half decent model with any accessories at all!! But on a more serious note, a production line product from a single company is a world away from a one off building the type of which is not exactly frequently built, and involving multiple suppliers and lots of unknown and an undoubtedly tight budget; especially when the major driver, no discredit to SC, really has no knowledge of building a football stadium or parts thereof. Yeah, I often go overbudget 'cos I'm stupid and easily influenced. And I don't end up with anything better, just spend the extra to avoid "problems" - Sc hasn't said he's getting a BMW instead of a Ford, he's avoiding "problems" - presumably like only having 3 wheels and no brakes? - hey ho, that's what happens. Keep on believing this stuff. I don't suppose anyone should criticise a chairman and an accountant CEO and a board member who's a surveyor, just because none of them acknowledge that (according to you) they didn't have the right experience, and coupled with that they then appointed a builder who (according to you) also didn't have the right experience. Keep finding ways to avoid the fact that a 44% overspend should actually be considered a problem and tell yourself it's all ok. Let's hope any further development only goes 40% over - that'll be really, really good progress won't it?

mikeroyboy
Following recent announcements and the catastrophic marketing of the Season Ticket Sales in conjunction with our 'glorious new stand' can we look to have a new CEO put in place, someone who knows what he is doing? As a Latics fan for some 40 years this really is a terrible situation SC has got us into, 1) Contiunually falling attendances 2) Fans rep on the Board who is nothing but a Lap Dog 3) 2 of the 3 TTA have basically abandoned the club and remain purely as Investors 4) A 'White Elephant' of a new stand being part built but with no money to complete it! 5) Tying the hands of a potentially good manager by telling him and other clubs that our best player is for sale because of 4) 6) Telling us as supporters that 4) will save the club-you cannot find the funds to finish it 7) Some interest in improving the match day experience, perhaps by putting all the fans together-then changing your mind! 8) Seeing an improvement in 7) purely I think by luck and by the efforts of the fans then looking at spreading out those fans by 4) This might never happen but it is your plan Mr Corney 9) A £30 charge to those loyal supporters who havent jumped ship YET! just to enjoy decent facilities, as in other grounds. 10) The complete lack of any special offer/incentive on 4) to get fans back who have deserted the club This new stand is your baby Mr Corney and you are making a complete and utter mess of it Do the decent thing get the £2M from your mates and go and join them across the water and then leave a new CEO and LJ alone! If we get the Richards money you can take it. If OAFC 2004 Ltd ends up in profit you can have that too. You have said that we need the new stand to break even-no we need success on the pitch to stand any chance of it! If We ever got to the Premier League you can call in all the debt. Just do us a favour Go away and close the door behind you! You are short on support because you don't have a credible plan. And you certainly don't appreciate your glass being half full. Let's hope any further development only goes 40% over - that'll be really, really good progress won't it? Your sarcasm is really quite unbecoming. I merely answered your point about the variation of prices within a single model of a car; no-one mentioned anything about BMWs or three wheels or no brakes and to try that is just simply specious and childish. Also I never said that the current overspend on the North Stand is not a problem nor a cause for concern (I certainly don't have enough facts at hand to determine that, maybe you do); all I said is that buying a car is a far different proposition to building a stadium or stand. Lastly, I made no comment on any builders appointed, or other people involved in this process; merely reflecting that SC will not have done this sort of thing before. As has happened to most humans, I'm sure he will have made mistakes, despite having professional help on hand, or even after seeking extra help from whatever quarter. The scale and culpability of those mistakes are beyond my ability to judge as, as I said before, I don't have the facts to hands, and maybe you do, though I highly doubt it. Really, you should read people's posts before attributing random rubbish to them, and quite frankly it sounds like you could do with 'taking a chill pill' so to speak before carrying on with spouting such vitriolic bile. bpmarko
I know which one I would prefer when the snow hits the ground. (I drive neither, old runarounds for me) Actually the Front Wheel Drive Focus will generally fare better in the snow, Rear Wheel Drive cars are real pigs to drive in those sorts of conditions. Unfortunately you picked pretty much the one and only time the Ford is better!!

Senor_Coconut
Not alot, looking at signing strikers now with the defence and midfield sorted. Smith could go since we've sold players every season, Wes was a great pro and didn't leave for money but LJ wanted something different and he got a good deal at Shrews, . Stand won't be ready for the start of the season but we don't need it to be since we haven't got 12000 fans every week, hopefully it will done for Jan so we can fill the ground when Liverpool come in the FA Cup. Stand will be a big boost for the town with the conference and banqueting facitlites which Oldham doesn't have, council are doing a great job for oldham with the building work around the town
