Sky News like many more are a bunch of utter clowns and twist any comment made to suit the rolling news slot. They like to convey the impression they are in the know when 95% of time its pure nonsense. Never see them say oh we got it wrong do you? All guesswork and rumour. Like news bingo.

A reporter from a quality newspaper reports that a sponser has contacted him having been told directly by OAFC to prepare for a deal being announced. This is out in the open now.

I vaguely remeber Marlon King being imprisoned for sexual assault. Not the same as rape, i know, but still serious enough for him to be sent to jail. Wigan sacked him, but what was the backlash like when he joined Covernty, Birmingham and Sheffield? This is a honest question. I don't want to sign the rapist. i'm just curious to know.

Lots of interesting comments and statements on here over the last few hours. Picking up a few of them:

1) Impact on future generation of supporters. A huge risk I agree, but sadly for our society if you trawl through Twitter the 'support' for the move and downplaying the offence Ched committed tends to come from young males. Whilst the female perspective will be different, young men are generally the life blood of football support.

2) The lack of apology / remorse. I agree it is not required and I agree that whilst protesting innocence what he can say is limited, but as others have said he could should more humanity towards the impact this sitation has had on others (the hounding of the victim, the abuse of people that have expressed opinions against him). Again no technical reason that he should do this, but it would make him more 'likeable'.

3) Is he good enough? I think the answer is, take the 'convicted rapist' out of the situation would you be delighted to be signing a 26 year old with international experience (OK its only Wales) and his goal record at this level? He is clearly on paper a very good player for our standard of football. Whether that is enough to warrant the moral issue is a different question.

Hopefully we can replace the sponsors who have jumped ship, with ones that aren't so cowardly or morally dubious/inflexible/binary.

Sorry, but this whole episode is pissing me off royally now, both the reactions of some on this board and in the media over the last few days are sickening to me. I think I'll take the rest of the day off to calm down.

Welcome to the club Ched Evans. Here's hoping you are worth all the fuss.

I agree fully.

But I think we're talking about different reactions......

What do Mecca actually sponsor? It's being reported as if they are a big deal sponsorship wise, but it seems to me they are just getting their name out there as a bit of a PR excercise.

Something I posted on Facebook when told "thankfully latics are not listening to mob justice"

This isn't about mob justice. He has a right to seek employment. I have no problem with that. We had the right to say no.

At what point does someones moral compass come into play? What constitutes a crime people are willing to forgive?

If player x was found to have child porn on their PC, after a couple of years they would free to play. Would people take them on? If not. Why not? They have done their time and all that.

I'm saying that he as a convicted rapist - I can't accept that either.

The board. A complete lack of morals. Not just in regards this, but for the fans. The fact they are willing to put us through this again. For a second time. Willing to completely lie to us.

Johnson must be happy with it.

Will I go? I'm stuck. Why should I not? Why should he stop me from doing something Ive done for 25 years?

But if I go, am I endorsing it?

That is a question I have to answer. Simon Corney, Barry Owen and Lee Johnson can :censored: themselves for forcing me to.

I would accept it and will still attend, but it makes me sick to my stomach that we have become the laughing stock that we currently

Also, anybody who thinks we can afford to lose 1000 off the gate (as we did the season after the infamous doggate) is in dreamland.

Its already a horrific decision. I for one can only see it getting worse.....and to think we have done this to ourselves, unbelievable!!

I am just hoping against all my instincts that we keep our manager. I suspect on a balance of time of 6 months, it is highly uncertain.

Whoever made or took that bloody call should be ashamed!!

This. This prettt much sums up exactly how I feel on the matter

There has been many post on here about the moral high ground / role model etc etc .

Football doesn't have any of these anymore , it lost them a long time ago -

if so -

Why is football governed by the most corrupt organisation since the Mafia ?

Why is Rooney captain of England ?

Why is John Terry playing for Chelsea ?

Why is Mr Oyston a director of a football club?

Why is Luke McCormack not only playing at Plymouth but is captain ?
Why has Lee Hughes played again ?

So why shouldn't Evans join the list !!!!

Say / do what you want about him but please don't make Morals / role models be the excuse for not going to BP.
