Crusoe Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Right back/right midfield, ex-Liverpool, NI international. http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/signing-robinson-adds-mclaughlin-to-his-squad-3233100.aspx One year deal plus option.
adamoafc Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Very good player. Barnsley forum were saying they should sign him when he was released in the summer. Couple of reels of his play. Looks a very decent addition likes to run at opposition
Crusoe Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Must mean the end for Connor Brown. And doesn't speak wonders for Josh Law's future either.
LaticsLegend Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Could mean we'll be seeing more of the 5-3-2 formation then?
the_mighty_bosh Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Sounds like a similar player to Dummigan. Welcome to the club Ryan.
blueatheart Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 A Liverpool supporting mate who is well into the youth team called him "the most exciting youth team product behind Raheem Sterling" and expected him to be Liverpool right back "for a decade". If he shows half of that promise, he'll be a great player here.
spanishblue Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 After joining from Northern Irish Premiership side Glenavon in July 2011, McLaughlin’s breakthrough season came a year later, when he was selected as part of Liverpool’s first-team squad for their pre-season tour of the USA. However, any potential debut was put on hold due to injury, something that turned out to be a regular occurrence throughout his Liverpool career. Former Liverpool right-back Rob Jones, who coached McLaughlin at the Academy described the Northern Irishman as one of the best right-sided players he has ever seen and believed that he will make it if a club gives him a chance. (Lets hope it will be at Oldham)

If he shows half of that promise, he'll be a great player here. Excellent accolade and could be a real gem. I just wish you hadn't said your mate was well into the youth team! Does 3-5-2 beckon? BP1960 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I remember watching a match on the Liverpool TV channel a couple of years ago, he was right wing back then and looked impressive
Bristolatic Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 If we could get Martis in on the left and another striker in, we might scare a few teams.
Flemboy Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Sounds a good prospect for the future once he gets his fitness back. Now for s decent striker .

Senor_Coconut Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Pretty sure we've had an interest in him before.
Senor_Coconut Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Actuallyn there might have been a City player with the same last name.
NewBlue Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Did very well at Barnsley in the Championship: http://bbs.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?220235-Mclaughlin&highlight=mclaughlin Didn't work out at Aberdeen by all accounts.
robboman Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 He's got 3x as many Twitter followers than our club
Crusoe Posted August 8, 2016 Author Posted August 8, 2016 Anyone want to do a sweepstake on how long before someone complains about the club's "nepotism" in hiring a Northern Irish player?
Stevie_J Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 A Liverpool supporting mate who is well into the youth team called him "the most exciting youth team product behind Raheem Sterling" and expected him to be Liverpool right back "for a decade". If he shows half of that promise, he'll be a great player here. If he shows a fraction of that promise, he'll be sold for £200k to the first bidder.
palmer1 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Anyone want to do a sweepstake on how long before someone complains about the club's "nepotism" in hiring a Northern Irish player? It's already happened on Facebook 'jobs for the boyz'
ddot_m Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Ridiculous! Looks a good signing, exactly what we were asking for! Now another striker if we are lucky!
Diego_Sideburns Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Anyone want to do a sweepstake on how long before someone complains about the club's "nepotism" in hiring a Northern Irish player? It's a certainty, so it is.
Midsblue Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Quality player. Very pacey and a great foot on him. Expect some decent delivery from right flank. If we get a striker with same quality then superb...a similar winger on opposite flank then ecstatic
