Thought first hour against Stevenage wad good.Since then it has been dire. We have too many similar players in attack, but no striker for them to hit when they create space. Also no experienced enforcer in midfield. PS has shown himself less able than FB and PW to get results from this lot. Lets hope that he is allowed to sort out his squad in the Summer and is then capable of getting performances out of them in this truly dire league. So bad that Cambridge fans have been conditioned to the dross in League 2 that they thought this was an ok game with both teams happy with the result. Lets hope we don't come to accept that.

Disappointed with the whole performance if I'm honest. Too many players had an off day and one or two looked disinterested.

Just my opinion but Lang, Dearnley and Afolayan look very similar in stature and style. We need someone up front who can "rough up" central defenders.

Edmondson had a particularly poor game which wasn't too much of a problem in the first half but became more evident in the second with misplaced passes and hoof ball.

Overall not a good day.

I get the impression that, to date, PS is a reactive manager in regards of substitutions rather than proactive.

Well I’m pleased if they all look like Lang!jesus Lang is on loan and has enough heart for the whole team! If we had a team of Lang’s we would be 20 points clear!

Thought Maouche was a passenger all game. Too lightweight. Release after contract expires. Same goes for many many others.

He is a waste of space, people says he can pass or has composurer on the ball? Great stuff ! Not? We’re in league two not the fucking prem? Not that he could cut it anywhere above! Waste of space ? Lite wieght, not what we want or need!

The reaity is we’re shite, bunn was a good fit in a non disrespectful way. He got the Best out of an average team, we were grinding out results ! We’re now plodding along

Awful game. Why we keep persisting with  rigid  451 is a mystery. Lang wasted behind as a deep lying forward. His game is work rate pace and aggression. So we put him some where he couldn't get involved. Should have been up top along side West ham kid.

Baxter good 1st half shame he had to go off. Maouche  was dire 2nd half. No fight or work rate.

Too slow in posssion, nothing to aim for in attack. Terrible performance and it's become an all too familiar sight these last few weeks.

Let's at least put two strikers up front for a time and see what happens we haven't got a dominant striker so let's stop asking one of them to do it and give him some help

I went to Cambridge today expecting us to build on the promise we had  shown for a large part of the home game against Stevenage. After a fairly drab first period in which we bossed the game, with Baxter the standout player, we deserved to go in at half time one goal up. The team worked hard closing down and getting a foot in at vital moments, but ultimately the tactic of playing out from the back led to lots of possession with very little in the way of efforts on goal.

Once again we came out for the second half and looked a shadow of the team who had comfortably managed the game. An early mixup and the slender lead was clawed back. From that point onwards we looked ponderous, disinterested and a very poor side.

When Baxter went off we lost the midfield and were distinctly second best. Dapo should have put his chance away but lacked the composure and Nepomuceno hit a tame free kick easily saved by the keeper. That apart, I cannot remember another clear cut opportunity. At the end we seemed to settle for a point.

Too many players looked off the pace today. Edmundson, Maouche, Lang, Dearnley and Alofayan either were caught in possession or gave the ball away cheaply. O’Grady and Branger and Missilou had very little impact coming off the bench. Clarke was again the outstanding defender.

One positive for me was the performance of Iversen- specifically the way he came off his line to claim the ball. Obviously something that he has been working on in training.

A disappointing and worrying performance.

You really need to read and fully comprehend posts.

I said they have the same look and stature only....if I had added in ability then the point would have a different meaning. Lang is obviously the stand out forward but there was no one to compliment his game yesterday. Having Maouche and Baxter bringing the ball out gave Cambridge time to organise and pack their defence. There was no alternative tactic as we started with a small front four so Iverson launching the ball upfield had no effect.

Do many of these players care, knowing they wont be here next season - promotion or not?

Good point BP, many should care though  because based on recent performances most would struggle to get a deal at a football league club for next season.

Watched Salford v Solihull yesterday and had the displeasure of witnessing Jamie Reckord struggle for 90 minutes against a very average Salford side, found it difficult to believe that we could well be playing one or both of them next season - Solihull fucking Moors!!!

Maybe more psychological, its on their minds they won't be here so hard to collectively put a shift in for the club.

Could be why this season is petering out.

How many are out of contract in June or on loan in the present sqaud?

Looks like we could build a team around Coke.

Could be the biggest recruitment in the clubs history. Even some of those contracted to 2020 could be paid off or sold

The OWTB transfer rumours page will run to a million posts.🤔

https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/sport/paul-scholes-disappointed-as-oldham-lose-lead-to-draw-at-cambridge/

‘I can’t explain the second-half performance. It was probably the worst half of football we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Oldham boss Scholes reflected afterwards.

“I thought it was OK in the first half, we controlled possession without really looking that threatening.

“There were a couple of chances but not much, and we scored a lucky goal. We looked lively, played some good stuff at times.

“In the second half we started really badly and didn’t really get any better. We never really looked like scoring.

“The players looked a little bit tired in the second half, which could be understandable as they’ve had a couple of hard weeks training.

“It was a disappointing second half but we have to get over that now.

“We’ve got a tough game on Tuesday against Lincoln which we know that, if we play anything like we did (in the) second half, we’ll struggle. We need a bit more life in us.”

Strange comment

‘The players looked a little bit tired in the second half, which could be understandable as they’ve had a couple of hard weeks training’

That’s twice recently that he has used that excuse... I have a suggestion Paul, why not cut back on the training and then the players might not be so tired?

Got to love Calderwood’s comment on their goal though:

‘We remained in the game and we had a super start to the second half. We’ve worked a lot on that, passing it back to the keeper and him miskicking it through to the centre forward.‘’ 😀

Depends on who's doing the recruiting?

I 100% sign up to your thinking of them giving up, but not because they necessarily know they WON'T be here next season? .. who's to say that one or two know they WILL and don't have to worry about getting a gig somewhere else!

Our biggest issue will be if PS gets offers elsewhere and laddo gets players in the door before he brings a new man in! .. you know, a bit like in January!

Didn’t he give them the Monday/Tuesday off last week after playing Saturday/Tuesday the poor things!! It’s must be all the hard work and effort they show week in week out against the mighty Macclesfield and likes!!! FFS🤦🏻‍♂️
