peanuts Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 to answer a question on another site when was our main stand constructed ?
LaticsPete Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 The “new South Stand” as it then was built in 1913. It had 2222 seats. Apparently the terracing in front had 22 steps and had a capacity of 5200.

Then the assassination of Franz Ferdinand spoilt it

Dave_Og Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 I'm surprised it still gets a safety certificate. Is there an older stand in use anywhere?

Possibly Goodison Park's? I remember the away end when we played them back in 2008. Made our main stand feel like modern wonder.

Sparkleking Posted August 28, 2019 Posted August 28, 2019 Interesting article about the building of the stand here. Apparently the roof of the stand that was there previously was used to cover the Chaddy End. https://playupliverpool.com/1913/08/25/season-preview-191314-oldham-athletic-the-athletic-news/

The tallest player being Phil Warhurst at 5’11 and both goalkeepers are only 5’8
