If you can find a copy of the offer that we turned down to take him for free then you may possibly (with hindsight, and assuming that we had the money and leeway in our FA budget to take on his contract at the time) be correct. Was 99% sure I was sat behind his family for a game earlier in the season actually. Quite a lot of them. Cracking player and rather than concentrating on getting money for him, I hope we can improve the pitch a bit so we get to see the lad play the football we know he can play. Knows he has talent and is confident but prefers to be playing and learning than sitting on a wedge on the bench. Hope he makes us a better team and matures along with us.
