oafc-latics
haven't read the thirteen pages before and i'm probably repeating points but i don't see this as good news for us. i'd got over the fact that we were moving to failsworth because we've had crowds of less that 4000 for the last 4 home games and we need a new start. am i right in thinking that we've bought the land at failsworth and sold the land at BP and now we're stuck?? we need to find a solution to this or a new spot of land or the fans will only stay away and go down. Some land at Failsworth has been purchased by the TTA. No land has been sold at Boundary Park, although, clearly, there is a parcel being developed behind the Chaddy. BlueJazzer
Someone mentioned moorside earlier. I seem to recall the land behind Seddon Atkinson being mooted. Wasn't the land being used for a golf club? Anyway, even if this land is big enough, or even the old British Gas in the same area, the council would reject it due to inadequate road networks. If they could use it as an excuse to knock back plans for redeveloping Boundary Park they could definitely use it in Higginshaw/back of Derker. laticsmarra
Just another example of how the councillors and executives have failed the residents of this borough over the years. Sport and leisure facilities, education, cohesion and attracting business a massive F on all counts.People stay because of family and friends beyond that there is nothing. singe
Why ? The revenue streams. We can't just knock up 4 stands and a pitch, otherwise we could revelop BP, it's all the extra reveue. THe football pitches, cinema (if that was planned) hotel etc.
garcon
The BP redevelopment plans included all the facilities required for those additional revenue streams - hotel, office, conferencing facilities, shop, pub etc. It might take ages or never happen, but let's at least try and have a go at securing the funding for phase one of that - the new main stand on the site of the Lookers. The plans are already there.

Nice idea, but we struggle to fill our 2 portacabin on legs currently, so along with 6 spanking new sponsor boxes, there will need to be a spanking new marketing and promotions team, capable of selling them EVERY game - suddenly 1000 Deck chairs look a better idea. BlueJazzer
Ok its not popular on here but LEVEL site 300 acres plus at the Moss opposite Office Depot. Land is WAITING for a development. Far from perfect but BETTER than nowt. PERFECT road network, few locals to complain, a more progressive council (well a council) and good for train with a match day stop. Surely worth a look NOW. Would we be welcome? would the loyal latics have the stomach for it? only a question? And within spitting distance of Curzons nice shiny new ground. Think they might have something to say about it. The rest is no go due to power lines, proximity to Broadway, possible access issues for construction traffic ie the part of Broadway would have to be closed and the other issue is encroaching onto domestic boundaries so that bit of land is central to everything….
