Hes just about to sign for Forest for 5.5 million. Is this a league one record?

Hypothetical question, how much do you think we would have got had we have sold the same player? Certainly not 5.5 million!

Huge money for a League One player, but in what I saw as an underwhelming Posh team he stood out like a sore thumb. Great athlete and goalscorer.

I certainly don't remember a league one team selling a player for that money.

They spectate to accumulate at Peterborough. They must have accumulated at least £20m from strikers sales alone over the past 5 years with the likes of Mackail-Smith, Gayle, Taylor, McLean and now Assombalonga going for large fees. They now have Conor Washington, who will probably follow the same path.

5 of the 6 strikers mentioned there started, or at least have spent part of their careers in non league football, so there's evidently a strategy at that club, and it's working brilliantly. Although we don't have the same resources as Peterborough, it's pleasing to see us try to replicate that system with buys like Rhys Turner.

Most opposition players in League 1 tend to blend into the background. I think when a player sticks out by ability you know they're going onto better things, Assombalonga is one of those players. Peterborough's first goal against us in the 5-4 win is the sort of goal that not many strikers at our level could score, the combination of pace and timing scored that goal. Another player who I beleive stuck out at this level was Jose Baxter, but like has been mentioned Peterborough can afford to say no which will add to the value, we were luck that Baxter signed another contract, but ultimatly we didn't get the fee that perhaps a player like him was worth.

The money spent on strikers in those 5 years would keep us operating for about 10 years. Mind you, its only got them about 10 places above us

Here's some facts for you all @OwenSkinnerPUFC: McLean

Mackail smith

Gayle

Bennett

Assombalonga

Coutts

Taylor

Tomlin

=£2,600,000

Sold for £27,000,000

It's extraordinary luck / judgement but probably only equates to 4 years budget in League One for them.

That kind of transfer profit would keep us solvent for the best part of 2 decades.
