oafc1955
Whatever happens the next choice of manager has to be the right one.... The right appointment even at this late stage could have a massive effect on season ticket sales but a rookie/cheap option once again will see the club on its arse! We have compo + Sheridan's salary, FFS let's use it!!!

Buckshawlatic
Jesus would be a good shout, he wouldn't ask for much and has a track record of working miracles. 2000 years is a long time to be out of work though... Times have changed
bozman
Was Shirtliff not going back to America? That's what I heard. But maybe the manager's job and a (modest) pay rise will tempt him to stay.
bigfatjoe1
Curtis Woodhouse is 10/1 but Dowie isn't listed. That sums up another day in the soap opera.
GlossopLatic
With regards to the rookie option he could be another Frizzell, Royle, Dowie, Sheridan or Johnson. Let's not totally rule out someone just because they are inexperienced aslong as we don't pick another Darren Kelly or David Dunn we could do worse than someone untried. Midsblue
I'm anticipating a Redfearn or Robins. The former an ex-player akin to Sheridan and the latter a local lad, known at this level as a manager etc. Get feeling Corney will learn from his error of inexperience and sign either a good feeling ex-player or experienced lower league manager. Would love Shirtliff to stay because how he sorted the defence but that was equally down to Gerrard, Dieng etc ... but will any of them still be here now we're in a period of uncertainty again. Great for a new face with a near as full budget with only a handful of contracted players but we all know that budget is probably Vanarama North Midland League level

Never ever will Dowie return unless we have a new owner with cash. Minimum two-year deal and a sizeable budget
mickjagger
How long as Dowie been out of the game now? How long is to long before not getting back into the game?

Nohairdontcare
I'd like to hear a bit more from the club about what the plan is now. I don't expect to, though.

Twisbrogan
Who would be the cheapest option? Probably Shirtliff as he's already on the payroll and also means that we wouldn't have to get rid of him when someone else comes in with grand ideas of wanting their own assistant. Ergo, it'll be him. With previous managerial spells at Mansfield & Bury (caretaker) then it'll be claimed that he has the required experience bit where it might not indicate ambition, he'll be cheap to fire off around November/ December should it be looking dicey. Latics_Fanatic
TP to the rescue! He's one of the only people i'd go for at the moment, shame he'll never take it. I'd also go for Ian Holloway, at least we'd have a laugh.

Macca
Maybe Lee Carsley. Was linked with the job in January and although a bit of a rookie, has done well in previous temporary roles.
