HarryBosch Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Surprised at this. Surely we'd be better off with him covering CB and RB and developing his game rather than Brian Wilson, dependable as he is....? Quote

Wilson's streets ahead of Edmundson at the moment though; a few months of regular first-team action should do him some good. Quote
bpmarko Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Edmundson's performance against Carlisle showed very well that he needs regular games for a while before he will be anywhere near ready for the first team. Quote
yarddog73 Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Burgess was the by far worst defender on the pitch versus Carlisle so that logic doesn't stand up, although I understand your point we seem to view our own players failings different from those of our loanees. Quote

I would disagree about Burgess having a worse game than Edmundson, both from seeing them live and having just reviewed the highlights. And with regards to having different views, for me personally, it makes zero difference, loanee or contracted; while they wear the shirt, they're Oldham players full stop. Quote
mcfluff1985 Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 He's gonna get a proper run of games on loan. Good idea Quote
yarddog73 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Amongst the top scorers in National League North but have conceded 29 in 9 League matches, it will be a good test for him and having watched plenty of football at that level he should really stand out for them and hopefully plug the gaps in their leaky defence. yarddog73 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Against top of the league free scoring Harrogate, nice start for the lad. Quote
disjointed Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Against top of the league free scoring Harrogate, nice start for the lad. Exactly this, it will do him the world of good to get some competitive game time under his belt, even better if the other players in the defence at Alfreton are looking for him to be the main man. Guest nonaenever Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Might just turn out to be another Tarkowski. Yes he had a shocker against Carlisle but looks to have all the attributes. Personally, would rather we played and developed him alongside Clarke than rely on a loanee in Burgess. But will trust the manager; game time will be good for him - just hope he doesn't pick up a nasty injury. Will come good this lad. Quote

Latics_Fanatic Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Not convinced, personally... but sincerely hope I'm proved wrong! To be fair, if we are comparing to Tarky - he had a mare at Sheffield Wednesday away which was his debut? (Might be wrong there...) Edmundson looked alright when he came in under Shez last season, going out on loan should harden him up playing in that league. Quote
whittles left foot Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Isn't Burgess a 6 month loan anyway with season option? Quote

Seems too long for me in his case-we might end up needing him before then Quote

Seems too long for me in his case-we might end up needing him before then Edmundson is on a youth loan and can be recalled if required after 28 days. Mantack and Stott also to go out on loan. Quote
BP1960 Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 (edited) Sent off at Boston Utd tonight. To make it worse Boston equalised in the 89th minute with a penalty after his sending off, then they got the winner in stoppage time. Edited September 13, 2016 by BP1960 Quote
Stagger Lee Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Sent off at Boston Utd tonight. To make it worse Boston equalised in the 89th minute with a penalty after his sending off, then they got the winner in stoppage time. That's why we send them out on loan - better to learn the hard way for Alfreton than for us. Quote
