I'm going for a club statement from Southend tomorrow evening confirming its going ahead it's a shite state of affairs but I reckon you could get the pitch playable fairly quickly though.

Just one big game of brinkmanship from the owner it's crap but their is nothing we could have done about it all off to Essex then!

Hope our players don't fall into the pitch foxholes.

But wouldn't it be up to the referee to inspect the pitch and in theory if felt there was any danger to players call it off even on the day?

You'd hope they'd also looked at the pitch before making the decision. The ground might be safe, but that pitch is a mess. Maybe they're patching it up in time for Saturday?

It's a tough one this, really want to go down on the coach, but you're talking £40 plus £20 for ticket with serious risk of a ref taking one look at the pitch and saying no

And there's potentially 4 more days of rain on it between now and then

If it’s unsafe to play the match

then it should be highlighted now!

You would think an immediate pitch inspection by a competent league referee would be in everyone’s best interests….if it’s postponed the night before for anything other than a waterlogged pitch there will be pandemonium and rightly so!

The effort the fans and staff have put in just to get this far has been more than achievement. Up until last week the staff hadn't been paid for between three to four months, before that wages were intermittent at best. Then they were thrown in at the deep end. Even Kevin Maher was at RH himself helping out at the weekend. If the game doesn't go ahead after that it won't be because of endeavour.

In my view the NL have been just as accommodating in their patience to let the club maintain our registrstion and certificates for next season, even the local MPs have met with them and lobbied for the club.

The problems we have is down to the owner. This is a well supported club.

Win, lose, or draw Saturday, when our team walks out it will be a flippin' miracle, (and to me personally) worth more than the points on offer.

Assuming a pitch inspection makes the game playable, then we will see you all on Saturday. When all the staff got paid(at long last), they also paid the ground staff, so they will be working their nuts off to make the pitch respectable. We're just a bit happy we've got the game to this stage. Safe journey to those of you who decided to grace the North Stand, we've cleaned your seats ready for you, probably not the bogs though as you would need specialist body suits for that😉

Thanks for cleaning my seat 😀👍

Understand the problem with the toilets, should win the award for smelliest toilets in the league 👍👍👍

Our new super duper ticketing system should be up and running by 10am according to the Club web site. I presume you will be able to buy away tickets as well. Whether the turnstiles will work with electronic tickets is another matter entirely, but hey, we're Southend Utd, nobody expects anything to work at our ground.

The ground has been neglected big time and as a result it needs a lot of TLC now. The pitch was scarified and completely reseeded a while back but then work stopped. Our ground crew are a good bunch and if they can get pitch up to scratch then it will be playable. As you say, though, the ref will decide. After all of the ball breaking work of the weekend I really hope it does, not for our shyster of an owner, but for the players and staff.

Have you heard anything about repairs to fox holes etc on the pitch? Hoping a Southend fan might have more information than most of us
