Stevie_J
Either I was too subtle or you're being very cryptic. You were referring to John Sheridan, no? Wasn't the story at the time that he was only at Donny to keep fit?

HarryBosch
Dunny must think we have too much pace in midfield! We will be lightning fast on the break with Wellens Guile & nouse over pace is what we've been been missing since Harkins... Sadly, pace only seems to come with a defective football brain at this level.... If he holds the ball up for more than 5 seconds it will be an improvement, if he's half as good as Shez ( and his legs were :censored:ed ) he'll do for me. He'll still be capable of hitting the slide rule passes and taking the set pieces and with Kelly in his defensive role mopping up behind we'll be a more balanced side. Exactly. Plenty of players do do the running while Wellens puts his foot on the ball and pings it about. Although I imagine he won't be able to carry it as far as Winchester can he'll be able to keep the ball in a similar manner and won't be wasting any passes. That'll be massive for us. We've been crying out for this kind of player for years. I still wish it was Dunn that'd be doing it though Edited November 27, 2015 by HarryBosch

bigfatjoe1
I wonder if Wellens is a Dunn signing? Has he brought in as a back-up manager? Just a thought.....with tongue in cheek.
losesome
Bobby Johnstone never left the centre circle except to walk off at HT but boy did he dictate the game !!!!
blueatheart
He played 7 times for them Pre-transfer window then. Anyone looking for a club could play and move on without too much thought, short term or non-contract terms. Especially as Donny were in trouble at the time. L1onheartNew
Bobby Johnstone was a Player's player. According to my dad, he smoked at least three of them at Half Time
L1onheartNew
Apparently he only went there to keep fit. My mum goes to keep fit twice a week. She doesn't need to go to Doncaster though
LaticMark
Honest question but where has Wellens played in recent years? A couple of times aside I remember him liking to sit pretty deep. I presume he'd play as a second holding midfielder with Kelly.
L1onheartNew
And people say the board are clueless. Canny more like. I think they meant the message board
lookersgeez
Good move for Wellens ....no drive to Donny everyday.....8 years is a long time, if he's still got the desire, it could work because he definitely has the brain.....Pretty sure he got frustrated playing alongside some of the players we had back then....god knows how he'll cope with this lot! Stevie_J
Wellens is still a cracking player at this level. This is a good signing. Hopefully, it'll be made permanent in January.
no1laticsfan
Twice the player of Wellens stands on the sidelines every week, "managing". Great point! I don't know if Dunn has kept himself fit and how good wellens is now but in my head is love to see Coleman Mills. Wilson. Wilson. Dieng Wellens Dunn. Winchester Jones Philliskirk Higdon

Buckshawlatic
Wellens seems to remember us getting 11-12000 fans last time he was here... Hope his footballing ability has endured better than his memory

leeslover
I'm going to put it out there now that I think our current team with Dunn and Wellens together in a midfield 2 has the potential to break club records.
