It's not even the fact that Shez might be going that pisses me off. Managers and players come & go its the nature of the beast.

It's the silence from the club. It may all be a massive rumour but last week Barry Owen goes on radio and talks about how John Sheridan is an amazing manager and not only will we reach the play offs but push for automatic promotion.

10 days later it seems we have just let him leave. We don't have to! not easily anyway as he us under contract for what that is worth.

Why are the club not kicking and screaming in the press saying our manager isn't going anywhere and Notts County are not allowed to approach.

The club admit mistakes have been made which certain fans commend them for doing and light can be seen at the end of the tunnel only for then to just roll over at the next challenge.

All the while saying nothing while every news source tells us he's off.

How do they ever expect the players, staff and especially the fans to fight for Oldham Athletic when everytime another club comes looking for a new player or manager our board turn round, drop trow, bend over and and take it!!!!

No bollox the lot of em!

Alot of people on the notts county forum seem to believe a takeover is imminent which maybe Sheridan's motivation behind this he may be being handed a war chest.

Also the title of this thread is abit long winded can we just call it Shexit?

Bollocks. You can't force a manager to stay. Think about it.

That's another thing that pisses me off.....

Clubs are sold left right and centre, County were only made available in March, we've been FOR SALE for years and for obvious reasons never likely to be sold!

Who wants to buy Oldham Athletic?

You get 4 contracted players, 3 stands, and no land... The club is worthless.

If there's a takeover, the new owners might want their own man in charge though

Where the :censored: did I say they can!?

They should show some balls and tell him and Notts County NO! Let them force the move, not just roll over.

Sounds as though Shez is forcing a bigger budget from SC. It just so happens as though County are the means of getting it. Shez doesn't get his desired budget, throws a strop and links himself with any old club to make a point. It's just wheather SC has the sense to do something about it. The ball is in SC's court.

But if the budget that Shez wants is unsustainable based on the finances what do you do?

Let him go and bag a bit of compensation to help make the next budget a bit better OR put the long term risk of the club at risk by spending more than we can afford OR expect SC to put his own personal circumstances at risk by putting more money on than he can afford?

It's a possibility, but by no means the only one.

So let him just resign under terms and we get nothing, or be practical and say he doesnlt want to be here, we can't agree and get some money.

He did not go to Bolton , he did not go to Leeds he might not go to Notts County......if he does not go however is his position at Oldham Athletic sustainable given his and the club's silence today?

There is time for this "deal" to fall apart. It's happened at other clubs too.

That said, unlikely as it is that he stays, you'd constantly be wondering if he was going to go at any minute. And there would be no end of speculation.

Why do we have to accept his resignation? Let him force it and take him and Notts County to tribunal.

It's not untenable, but I've just said more or less the same thing at the same time as you. Of course, it depends what has actually happened/been said rather than our guesses.

But overall, it's right to question/worry about his commitment from here on in, in the unlikely event he stays

I get what you are saying, but tribunals are notorious for under valueing. PLus it will take too long, well into the season, and disrupt entirely the preparation. How could he manage?

To what end?

It would show that we at least tried to keep the man who was going to lead us to promotion. 90% of the posts in this thread today are about Corney and the rest not doing anything just letting a league 2 club come and take our manager. They have chosen to do that because Shez was under contract and we didn't have to give Notts permission to speak to him.

We can't stop but we can make it difficult for him and would probably make more money reporting them rather than the normal under valuing our assetts

Leeds, Bolton and now Notts County all wanted him after our survival.

We under value our assets anyway, I'd risk it.

The original point was more to do with not just taking it for once.
