@kent_latic @rammylatic a guy on latics message board said it was all sorted out 3 days ago

9:58 PM - 26 May 2016

This laticsowl57 is the same idiot who said Sheridan was off to Leeds , has slagged off Anthony Gerrard in a direct tweet to him , and is generally as bright as a piece of coal in a blackout

Was speaking to someone tonight about Sheridan and he said that Sheridan agreed this deal 4 days ago and as only just told Latics. The first we heard about it was in the Nottingham post.

Our Costa Coffee shenanigans back in January have well and truly come back to bite us on the arse.

Sounds as though Shez is forcing a bigger budget from SC. It just so happens as though County are the means of getting it. Shez doesn't get his desired budget, throws a strop and links himself with any old club to make a point. It's just wheather SC has the sense to do something about it. The ball is in SC's court.

It sounds like he's off.

It would show that we at least tried to keep the man who was going to lead us to promotion. 90% of the posts in this thread today are about Corney and the rest not doing anything just letting a league 2 club come and take our manager. They have chosen to do that because Shez was under contract and we didn't have to give Notts permission to speak to him.

We can't stop but we can make it difficult for him and would probably make more money reporting them rather than the normal under valuing our assetts

Wasn't Sheridan under contract at Newport, did we pay compensation to them?

Where the :censored: did I say they can!?

They should show some balls and tell him and Notts County NO! Let them force the move, not just roll over.

For once I totally agree with you. Tell Notts Couny to :censored: right off. I dont care if it upsets them, I dont care if it upsets Shez. He is under contract for another 2 years with us. If Notts County want him so badly let them ask again but the first response should have been to tell them to :censored: off-and to make that public!

Why dont we ever play hardball? There are Football League rules about approaches to managers under contract.

Maybe if they did the above snippets may be leaked to the press what is really going on behind the scenes, so Shez may have them over a barrel, just a thought !

Anyone who wants to make a stand and fight for their club, irrespective of what any employee does or doesn't do, should make their feelings clear at:

http://www.oldhamvending.com/contact-us/

We are a community. We are not defined by a lower league manager who, despite his fantastic achievement this season, does not determine who we are. We will not be held to ransom by a sponsor. :censored: OFF.

Come on. Show some pride.

If he wanted out why do a meet the fans gig only weeks ago and say the only club he'd consider are wednesday and Leeds....I think what ever has happened as happened recently he been on holiday. Certainly more that meets the eye. Theres 1 thing it's never boring just wish it was positive news for once

It is boring it's like Groundhog Day

Yes. Show some pride. I agree. But ultimately, if he wants to go he can :censored: off. Really, i support this club, not John Sheridan. I'm actually not that bothered. I love the club. He can do one. I'm disappointed, but that's his choice. Goodbye. Good luck. Thanks for what you did. Notts County is clearly a better option. You will regret this. Next.

I support Oldham, not Sheridan. If you want to get upset you should ask yourself if you love the club or not. If you do, stop moaning. It's our club. Bottom line - we are a community club. We socialise around the club. He is peripheral. Our club!

Before we hang Sheridan ( or Corney) lets wait for the facts to come out.

Wages may not have been paid - shez jumping ship understanderable

Shez leaving to work with a mate - Corney not really at fault

I just hope that the announcement tells us the truth not the spin, we can all handle the truth its a barry owen bull:censored: spin that will piss me off

OK so Matt Chambers and Martin Thomas (Optmicars bloke and normally in the know) both confirmed deal done and due to be announced this morning.

The club need to inform the fans the exact reason for this.

From an outsider looking in we have a manager currently serving two more years of a 2.5 year agreement on terms he agreed just a few months ago and was happy with them. He was managing a club that a few months ago he stated he had a deep affinity for and only recently quoted that he was fixed on strengthening our team for an assault at the top of the table.

His success in diverting relegation as drawn attention from the likes of Bolton, Leeds and now County. However he had unfinished business here and any owner worth their salt should have rejected any approach perhaps renegotiating terms as a compromise.

We can only deduce that something has happened to make that position untenable. A lot are suggesting the budget meeting with the board and our failure to sign Holloway caused this shift.

It's the time for truth from both parties - the board owe us this even for the sake of securing future ST sales that would be affected as a result of uncertainty of Sheridan's exit but more so the immediate future of the club regarding manager appointment and next season playing budget.

We're entering June, 30 days until the transfer window opens and potentially starting afresh in securing a new manager. Shirtliff is a reasonable suggestion as he's here already and his arrival signalled the shoring up of our defence. At the sharp end is our concern though - no bite and no goals.

Forget Sheridan now; today I want to know more about the clubs immediate future plans to avoid another relegation dogfight and serious assurances around an experienced manager and assurances of strengthening on the playing front.

If it's a simple statement from the club and no message from the chairman then this again emphasises the contempt of our fans and that the playing side of the club is no longer a focus but a hindrance to Corneys plan.

The only thing I can see now that will appease the majority of fans is a new owner, fresh impetus and focus on the pitch. Lower your demands for the future of the club even if you separate the stand and ground from the deal and simply become a landlord.

What a stupid response. Yes we are all pissed off but to go picking a fight with an honest fan who demonstrates how pissed off he is by threatening to withdraw his financial support to the club. I think it is you who needs to show some pride-in yourself!

Both Mids and Stagger make good sense.

I'm now concerned with accurately understanding the reasons for Sheridan going and, more importantly, the implications for the future. It's more than reasonable that supporters know what the new manager has in terms of resources and what the club's genuine ambitions are. I'm not interested in the hysterical outrage that many express, let's get a constructive view of how we can move forward.

Yes i think thats sensible really, i suppose myself and maybe others are putting 2 and 2 and getting 5, the least we should expect however is an explanation of what has gone on, the question is, will we?

No club is going to publicise the resources available to a new manager in anything other than the vaguest of terms.

And as for ambitions, I'm sure they could make a statement but there's no way to determine how genuine it is without the benefit of hindsight.

Why have we no money?

We have sold loads of land

We have had contracts with The NHS

We have sold players

We have had cup runs

We have a game changing new stand

We have millionaire owners............

And Sheridan's not going to say anything negative about leaving Latics. Regardless of the situation, he'll be spinning is as though the challenge at Notts County was too good to turn down. We'll know nowt. As per...

Easy to blame the board here (as we always do), but if Sheridan wants to leave there isn't masses the board can do. I think the board have to make the manager aware of any approaches and if the manager wants to talk to the club coming in, they can't really obstruct that.

It seems Sheridan was open to offers from early doors after we survived as I doubt the links to Bolton and Leeds weren't plucked out of thin air.

The budget issue doesn't really wash with me - despite Corney being the devil incarnate I doubt he would have lied to Sheridan to such an extent about the budget that it's now unrecognisable to the one Sheridan was originally offered. Sheridan getting the hump because we missed out on Holloway would be laughable - a shame we missed out, but he's hardly Messi and if Fleetwood can afford Ameobi, they will be able to out bid us for Holloway, I would guess. Sheridan could have used his skills to unearth a diamond and find an adequate, and cheaper, equivalent.

As mentioned above, I hope all comes out in the wash, but I'm reluctant to blame the board just yet.

Feels like that ex girlfriend,

You know the one where she was the best you'd for years but then she got pissed at a family party and it went down hill so you (probably prematurely) got rid.

Years later, a midlife crisis hits and after numerous younger inexperienced disasters you find yourself in a dark place, not looking after yourself & you look scruffy (apart from the brand new shoes that you'd just overpaid for)

Then all of a sudden, you bump into that ex at Costa coffee in town. WOW, knockout...you find out she's in a long distance relationship she doesn't want to be in. You talk her round & promise her the world and decide to give it another go & it's MINDBLOWING...your planning marriage, kids, the works.

Then out of the blue she :censored:s you off for Jason from work...

(Promise I'm not speaking from experience)

Sheridan's agent has been actively pushing his name for every vacant job in the last 2 weeks which would indicate that something has gone wrong between Shez and the board.

My thoughts are that because of S/T offer , cost of new stand etc Shez has been told his budget for next season is less than originally forecast and he has said "thanks but no thanks".

What a mess , only 4 contracted players (2 are Brown & Cassidy) and no manager.

Can't blame anybody BUT the board .

I await to hear from the great Barry boy telling us not to moan and be thankful we are still in league 1.
