Statistics eh or you could say theyve only lost 1 of the last 6 too. Id say they still have a chance an outside one but still a chance.

You could, but draws are no use to them.

They have the majority of their games at home and they haven't been winning league games at home.

We’re not great but surely we’re better than bury, Rochdale, Northampton, Walsall, Wimbledon and maybe mk that puts 5 or 6 below is. Bury are done, walsall and Northampton are dropping like stones and surely Rochdale are almost done. We must have enough....

Not in the most literal terms no but they are in form and still have a chance of survival they need atleast 5 wins from 10 games to get to the 50 point mark a few draws added in might be enough its doable but will be very tough.

That game at Spotland could be huge for both of us.

So that is five from  ten having won 7 of the previous 36 I think. That's a big ask.

Plenty more twists and turns yet with some getting dragged in and probably at least one of those expected to drop going on a decent run. Pointless writing teams off in the same way its pointless predicting we will be okay.

Or predicting we / anyone else needs x number of points. It’s bullshit. It’s relative every season. You don’t have to get to x points to stay up, or get x number of wins. You have the finish above 4 other teams.

FACT!!!! ?

True, but it's part of the fun.

Agreed but adds to the tension in these last few games.Other results  yesterday went in our favour but as said let's concentrate on getting  a few more wins which I've no  worries we will get.Its never dull being a Latics fan.

Pompy 3-0 Oxford.  Robinson working his magic already, Oxford bad tempered and ill disciplined all game.

Oxford early promise a memory now and given their form they are now in the relegation mix too.

Just had a look at the remaining fixtures (for us nobody else) and looking at it 53 seems a realistic aim.

That would require 3 home wins and 2 defeats from our 5 home matches who are against Blackpool, Walsall, Southend, Gillingham and Doncaster. On top of that 4 points away from home in 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats from Wigan, Oxford, AFC Wimbledon, Rochdale and Northampton.

As stated that would take us to 53 which should (will) be fine.

That would mean the four below us would need the following:

Northampton - 13 points from 21

MK Dons - 14 points from 24

Rochdale - 18 points from 30

Bury - 23 points from 24 (would need to win ALL 8)

Can't see us going but this is the first time in quite a few seasons where I haven't really feared for us so could still happen.

Nothing is nailed on but I've no doubts we can get enough points to stay up and would not be surprised if we beat Wigan.I recall we  won there 1-0 when they were riding high and unbeaten.

We also have a committed manager and new owner so as far as I am concerned we will  stay up and look forward to Wellens and AL progressing our club.

As optimistic as I am about us staying up theres very little chance of us getting three points at Wigan, it will be games against the likes of Wimbledon, Dale and Northampton that will seal our fate.

Just as it’s pointless telling people that going on a messageboard and making points is pointless ?.

So, my points being, we will not get relegated and bury are already down.

I will give you Bury, still think we have work to do but we will probably be alright, plenty of teams in stronger positions than ours have gone down over the years so I still refuse to accept its a gimme.

Pointless is a good show though. Especially when Latics fans go on it and win the jackpot.

Ahem, Penney...

Indeed there is always an exception. That was the dullest football I've ever seen but there has been some rubbish since albeit not as bad.

Amazes me how Penney gets that accolade when Steve "coma-inducing" Robinson had us rooted to bottom of the league for months with the dullest crap since football began. We were top 6 early season under Penney until winter/horrific injuries bit.

Anyway...

Robninson gets a semi-free pass from me due to themess he inherited.  It all started with Sharp really who seemed to set out to get a 0-0 every game
