Yarney in negotiations ? Thought we had him until 2024 ? He signed an 18 month deal ?

He did, we’re probably trying to get him on a 3 year deal like some of the others I think.

I hope so, he’s number one on the team sheet for me.

Majority of fans would agree on the basis he got 68% in PoS poll. For what it’s worth I voted for him, and it’s important he’s here next season. Said in a previous topic that Hogan and Yarney will be the best centre half partnership next season.

Not many surprises in that list. Maynard, Clarke and Francis-Angol have long been frozen out. I'd not be surprised if Porter called it a day now, given his injury record.

Good to see we're looking to extend Yarney's even further. We've some genuine assets now and in no rush to sell so we should be able to command some decent fees for them when approached as opposed to our old Cash Converters way of operating.

Unsworth said (pre-retained list announcement) that tough decisions and difficult conversations would be had with those we weren’t keeping. But I can’t imagine it was difficult or tough (or a surprise) to the ones announced as leaving - all pretty obvious.

So maybe the tough conversations were with ones in contract that he’s happy to move on if they find interested clubs (possibly even the likes of Tollitt & Rooney)

The list as currently announced probably doesn’t tell the full story of who’s in & out at this stage (with Chapman & Sambou maybe on the radar)

Chapman can't be on the radar if we are serious about chasing promotion, we've faced much better week in week out and should be going after those players.

Hogan

All good enough for a promotion chasing team I reckon. A quality ball playing midfielder, a right back, a couple of wingers and probably another striker should be the priority to bring in. Could be an interesting summer

are you Monty Burns?

on reflection and after digesting the retained for now list, we have no roon for him as it stands.

Given Unsworth’s seemingly preferred rudimentary style of play, I wouldn’t mind seeing us try for signing Harry Smith from L Orient (on loan at Barnet). We’ll have good communications with Wellen’s, who hasn’t really used Smith in L2 and chosen to loan him out twice this season. He scored a hatful at Barnet since joining in Feb, He’s not played much in the north, but did join Macclesfield a few years ago so not opposed to coming up ‘ere. He’s 27, so a good age for a 3 year deal. I know striker isn’t a priority, but I’d see him as an upgrade on some of the forwards we have. Can see him leading the line well in a promotion chasing team and easily scoring 20- 30 if he stays injury free.

Edit: He’s out of contract in the summer. Has suffered with gambling issues so may be seen as ‘tainted’ like Colclough.

I think Dino wanted him before he got booted

With help he could have reformed by now.

Is there any word from the club on the number of deals offered? I thought they'd said at the forum that they were going to offer three deals for three years. Perhaps there's interest from other clubs and some of those offered terms are unlikely to accept.
