MATCH: AFC Fylde (H) 29/03/24

Recommended Posts

Well that was utter shite. We need a big clear out in the summer. I wouldn't be bothered if most of them went but I know that can't/won't happen. I agree with my son and would give MM 10 games next season (like Unsworth) but again I doubt that happening.

Pissed off with them......

I‘m sorry this ref. How he has not given handball there. Surely when it is so obvious you‘ve got to question the integrity of him as a professional.

I said in my post yesterday that this ref has a record for giving out yellows but not for 1 minute did I think he would be this bad. He was atrocious and should be struck off. What does the 4th official actually do? Their keeper blatantly handled outside his area a should have been carded for stopping a goal scoring opportunity and we didn't even get a free kick. All the ground could see what happened only he didn't. Not to mention all the other mistakes he made. I'm sick of these crappy officials. He ruined the game today. These refs never ever get sanctioned. If I had been Mellon I would have smacked him in the face at the end and taken the ban and fine for the pleasure of punching a twat in the smacker.

Once again I did warn you all that this ref .was shit.Still angry at his decions today. Wish I had his email address. How the man can walk off needing a police escort and return to his Easter with his family is beyond me.And yet again there's fuck all us fans can do.

We’ve signed played after player to replace him. None good enough to displace him. There’s your problem

He's displaced them since Mellon came in and 200 is a lot of league appearances for somebody you single out as being incapable of functioning in a successful non-league team.

Clear MOTM twice this season. He's capable as are a good few of them which is why it's all doubly frustrating I think..

Just watched the post match interview, for a second I thought he was suggesting it was the fans fault for creating a hard environment for the boys to play in- he did say the team made it hard for themselves, hence fan unrest.

So more or less what I took from it was- the team can't go behind at home as they can't cope with the fan reaction???

So disappointing the way the season seems to be fizzling out.  At least it's a welcomed change to be annoyed at the fact we had (and possibly still have a chance) at play offs / promotion rather than finishing 18th or trying to avoid being relegated.

You did but today's ref wasn't the one who was originally announced.

Robert Massey-Ellis replaced Andrew Miller.

He is a bit card happy too, as was obvious today. Don't recall him being that card happy when he reffed our game at Barnet last season.

A Google search will bring up his twitter. Still public...

Ok. Yeah he’s fucking quality.

are you blind?

He’s garbage. We knew he was garbage 2 years ago and that’s my point.

I am not singling him out as any worse than others rather highlighting the fact that he is still getting a game when we know his limits and have known them for years. That speaks volumes. We have to be signing players better than him to get out of this league. We seemingly are not. His continued involvement is a bell weather for the quality we have brought in

he is no better or worse than the rest

Not that it really matters a great deal but I think we’ll win the appeal of Fondop’s red. He wins the ball, doesn’t leave the ground.

He’s become increasingly irritable in his interviews and is starting to sound quite condescending- ‘Nobody in the this room is as experienced as me’ We know that Micky, that’s why we are pissed off that someone of your experience keeps churning similar performances. I also think that he’s fucked off with the fans, the same fans who he said after chesterfield created a great atmosphere and he was pleased for.

It’s not difficult.

Put a shift in, try and play- the fans create a great atmosphere. (Chesterfield)

Start laboured, don’t work hard enough, show no ability or composure for the umpteenth time - fans get pissed off.

The facts as opposed to subjective opinions suggest his limit is League 1.

Done alright for us of late albeit inconsistent but also often out of position - which is the crux of the problem i.e. squad balance and square pegs in round holes..

Oh it’s entirely subjective.

Nobodies been involved in as many games as Mellon, after that hand on heart I bet he can't say he's seen or been involved with a bigger shower of shit in his whole life and it's his fucking tactics causing it the clown.

We know there's work to do and we know we won't win every game but I'm sorry it's just fucking stupidity to crack on with those tactics, we did away with it against Chesterfield and guess what we played some fucking football but that wasn't enough to convince Pep Mellon that there is more than one way to play a game of FOOTball.

Only watched us since Woking at home as been away for a few years prior. Former player at this level (albeit in the 80s) and said back in Feb this was the worst Latics team I`ve ever seen. Nothing since has changed my mind. Generally, we seem to have an average set of non-league players and, to make matters worse, they do not look like they are being well managed. The spine of the team is weak and without a strong spine, you're going to get found out more often than not, even at this level. Other areas outside of the spine are weak too; right and left back anyone? I don't pretend to know where the crux of the problem lies but I feel very sorry for Mr Rothwell because he's been the Latics saviour and seems as sincere as they come. He deserves far better than what he is getting on the pitch. We all do.

Why would you be surprised that we're the worst team you've seen? We haven't been this low in the league for well over a century.

So Mellon instructed them to play football against Chesterfield, saw they did it reasonably well, saw us go 2 up, saw the crowd respond to the effort even though we drew and then since then has deliberately sent them out to not play that way at all? Despite our form being shit for a month.

That makes no sense whatsoever.

The pressure/expectation was off them in that game so they played with a bit of freedom. Simple.

That pressure will be there in the majority of the games we play in this league. It’s up to Mellon to put a team out capable of dealing with it. This hoofball stuff is a red herring.

Yeah you’re right to be fair 😂. I’ve since seen it back in real time and slow-mo, and it’s a shocker. There were a few around me who thought the same as me in fairness, so not just me going blind!

Yes, I`ve acknowledged that previously. However, when I returned to the UK  people were telling me (and some of what I read on here as well before I joined) we were a team really on the up. I was told Hobson was like a lower league Paul McGrath, Conlon was in a similar mould to John Sheridan (! wow), Kitching was phenomenal bombing down the left, Raglan was classy, Lundstram an attacking midfield dynamo and, well, Norwood was simply the best striker in non-league etc. I have seen no evidence of what I was told (I`ll give Norwood the benefit of the doubt due to poor service but not seen much to get excited about personally). So, I was led to believe we were much better than we are. I`m still hoping there will be a miraculous turnaround but it's not looking likely is it?

I think a factor was that Chesterfield weren't up for it. They wanted to "win the league" on home turf. That game flattered to deceive, although it was certainly far more enjoyable than anything else I`ve witnessed.

Yeah, I think the Chesterfield game was a massive red herring.

They've lost to Dorking, Halifax and lost to York today. They're on the beach.

From the kick off today we had possession it was passed backed to Hudson who promptly hoofed it up towards Garner to try and win (he didn't), that was a pre planned move and set the tone, Garner won nothing all day and neither did Norwood, it was pointless.
