It should be remembered Shez has form with regards to the pitch.

Christ...that's very rich from Shez considering the JPT Northern Final 1st leg in 2012 when he managed Chesterfield against us. There was strong suspicion at the time that Shez wanted frost covers left off the pitch to get the game postponed so he could sign 4 players in time for the re-arranged game 24hrs later....which is exactly what happened.

Very rich!

Yeah this one is Corney fault aswell. Not the fact weve had more rain than ever before.

I remember a few years back the pitch was never a concern after heavy rain and although we are now experiencing record levels of rainfall the pitch of old would have coped admirably.

According to an article on the OS today the pitch is 3 or 4 years past its sell by date and because of this its drainage capability has badly deteriorated.

Considering that the hosting of football matches is the main interest of our fan base I would expect the maintenance of the pitch to be pretty high up in any list of priorities.

So whilst it isn't the sole fault of Corney it is certainly a lack of foresight / investment by the club.

Perhaps the current fundraising initiative for a big screen at BP would be better aimed at the funding of a new playing surface.

I don't see your point. In both cases, he's looking to achieve the best outcome for his team, isn't he?

Good to see the club gave the Head Groundsman a chance to explain the current situation.

If it was known heavy rain was going to fall from 6pm the previous night why wasn't the pitch covered until an hour or so before the match? the pitch should then have been able to take about 3 hours of rain without it becoming waterlogged.

There are covers available nowadays to let air flow to the pitch, but not water.

They use covers in cricket why not football?

I'm sure you do see the point. Just you think it's ok to purposely get a game called off because "he's looking to achieve the best outcome for his team" As I don't, I find it a bit rich for him to cry about a game being off and him starting having a go at ground staff. The point is perfectly clear, even if you don't agree it.

Some of this is over the top but snippets are true.

He much would it cost to cover BP do you think? Do any other clubs use rain covers? It's something you never seem to see.

It's a case of where the rain goes once it's ran off the rain cover.

However I will agree it's daft having the groundsman saying the pitch is 2 or 3 years out of date whilst we crowd fund a big screen

A new pitch is a lot more expensive than a screen. Saw somewhere around £800,000 -£1 million. (Not a re seeding price but the grass and woven plastic thing that is now past its sell by date) This wouldn't be achieved with our fan base.

The pitch should be central to the investment at the club along with players!

Typical cynical non constructive idiotic reply,

Actually, last time you suggested it, after I stopped laughing, I pointed out that we would have nowhere for all the run off to go.

You ignored it.

So now I just laugh at the fact that in a global sport, hundreds of years old with billions of games played, nobody does this. Yet some bloke on a PC keeps bringing it up asif it's some wheel like revolutionary idea that has somehow slipped under the radar. It's funny.
