oafc1955
We've gone from almost the best pitch in the league to a cabbage patch in less than a season....we've had very little snow and hardly any frost. We've had a fair bit of rain but so have others and our drainage system has always been spot on! The Shtewsbury pitch looked like a green carpet recently.... Is it down to having a new head groundsman or just a lack of investment?

ghostofcecere
It because major work is undertaken on it every two seasons, it always a lot worse the season before the work is carried out. Can you imagine what it would be like if the rugby were about to start using it as well
Stevie_J
A fair bit of rain? We've had a :censored:ing unbelievable amount of rain, which will do far more damage to the pitch than snow or frost.
nzlatic
At one stage didn't we have a deluge, then a match that cut it up, then a frost, then more deluges? Probably the worst set of conditions you could have.
singe
A fair bit of rain? We've had a :censored:ing unbelievable amount of rain, which will do far more damage to the pitch than snow or frost. Shrewsbury Oldham Dec 2015 134mm 203mm Jan 2016 169mm 200mm TOT 303mm 403mm So 30% more rain in Oldham. As you say Stevie it does far more damage. yarddog73
Why have they dropped 10 ton of sand on it, it looks like Blackpool beach.
singe
It should be remembered Shez has form with regards to the pitch. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newport-county-ground-staff-chief-10709664
philliggi
Synthetic fibres sewn in 12 years ago were meant to be renewed after 10 years. This never got done so we are paying the price now
longtimeblue
Why have they dropped 10 ton of sand on it, it looks like Blackpool beach. Early 90's kit, early 90's pitch. New levels of unsuccess.
SavageTheBeast
Clubs in the north west are struggling due to the increased rainfall look at the state of Dales. bigfatjoe1
It started pissing down in November and went on for seven weeks. Then it pissed down over Christmas. Rochdale and Bury flooded. Now it's back. I'm surprised we've still got a pitch. Sill, SC should invest. I'll bet Brassbank have top drainage systems in place for their bits. BOOOOO. CONSPIRACY!!!! Magister
If we rent the ground shouldn't we tell the landlords we ain't paying cos it's not fit for purpose? Edited February 5, 2016 by Magister
Hands on
It will be a tenant's repairing lease as well as a tenant's build the North Stand for us lease etc etc
Diego_Sideburns
It's all the fault of the new stand. Before that was built the three-sided ground allowed the wind to blow through and dry the pitch more quickly.
al_bro
We have the 2nd highest pitch in the country and get much harsher weather than most. We are after all on the edge of the pennines.
OneSizeFitz
If only some bright spark could invent a pitch that isn't so heavily reliant on the weather conditions... out of something like, I dunno, plastic?

blueatheart
A fair bit of rain? We've had a :censored:ing unbelievable amount of rain, which will do far more damage to the pitch than snow or frost. And we've been playing football on it whilst it's raining which makes it even worse. Like the youth cup match the other day, it isn't just the first team that are damaging it, it's the other fixtures too.
