I'm In Liverpool the night before.

Anyone got any recommendations for city centre eating and drinking spots?

Ship and Mitre has a large variety of ales and all the more mainstream beers and is a short walk from Lime Street, if that's where you're coming from.

For food a walk up Bold Street and you'll find something to your taste

Zorbas is my favourite place to eat. Greek, believe it or not. It's near the Dispensary, which is not only superb for beer but also on Oldham Street. There's all sorts really, depends what you want.

Meeting some Yanks so somewhere British and not burgery will do.

Gonna go in a few pubs show them Philharmonic dining halls and the looking for a eccentrically English bar after. Or just somewhere that plays good music.

The Blackburne Arms does decent food and the Caledonia does decent beers and is as "English" as you get. Both pretty much next to each other and 5 minutes walk away from the Philharmonic.

I was going to say the Caledonia from the Phil. Great place.

Cheers for the help guys. You're the best

Just looked up the Caledonia, looks ace - they do have an Americana festival on at the moment which is a bit annoying. These guys are from Portland Oregon so they probably don't see too much of that stuff at home anyway.

The music is usually music students from over the road, it won't be anything they'd be expecting
