As in Fawlty Towers…..

Keef Curle, specialist subject

The bleedin obvious!!!

His interviews are so predictable, if you played them back to back you would think he was just talking about one game!!!

The players are not listening, they are shite, the formation is shite and there hasn’t been a single shred of improvement since the day he arrived!!

Today he said if Armstrong had been playing up front for us we’d have won the game…..what about our own star striker who you targeted and then brought in?

Absolute fucking shambles!!!!

We can't afford to pay (rumoured) six figure fees for players.

If Curle told me it was sunny, i would grab a brolly rapid.

We could have Harry Kane  up top and the only way he would get a scoring opportunity is by creating it himself.

Team formation, selection and game management is totally shambolic.

Got to be one of the worst managers we have ever seen.

Playing devils advocate for a moment…

The squad available to Curle yesterday was missing eight injured players:

Rogers

Hart

Couto

Sheehan

Adams

Cisse

Hopcutt

Luamba

If all had been available I reckon four or maybe five could have started the game (Hart, Cisse, Adams, Hopcutt and possibly Luamba).

The manager speaks of being unable to play players in their correct positions due to the ongoing injury crisis.

Hope is not a lone striker/hold up type of forward

Diarra is not a holding midfielder

Fage is not a defender/wingback

Clarke is not a right back

And then there is the enigma that is Bahamboula… where do you play him?

Yesterday he produced one sublime piece of magic that put the ball on a silver platter for Stobbs to score…that apart he flitted in and out of the game making poor decisions and too often losing the ball.

After a good first half display, the team simply fell away in the second half.
Both central defenders started to make mistakes and were often left exposed at the back.
And what was patently obvious (as if we needed that confirmed) is how many of that team are poor footballers.

How much of the blame for that abject second half performance should fall on the shoulders of the manager?

Whatever we think, and however bad a hand he has been dealt…it is painfully clear that he is failing to properly coach and motivate the players he does have at his disposal.

Good summing up there, Mr Dog.

Just waiting for his pay off.

The folly of 2 year and even longer contracts for managers, the number of pay offs to failures at all clubs must be in the billions.

With our record he should have been given a 6 month contract with a rolling option.

I sit quite close to the dugout. Curle and his coaching staff showed no energy or willingness to change things. No encouragement or frustration, just nothing. They all stood there waiting for the full time whistle to go all game. This isn't always the case. Yesterday had no leader on or off the pitch. He looked and acted as though he's waiting to be sacked.

I still don’t think his sacking would involve a full payout!!

Depends on whether there are break clauses.  Shrewd, well run clubs always have those.......

We might not be a well run club but we are a well run down club. Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Curle was talking pre match about being imaginative. So why did we wait until 2-0 to bring on another forward and then when we did stick with one up front?

Why not try Hope and Dearnly, Stick Bam up front? Bettache he at least looks like he can carry the ball? At no point did we see anything imaginative just the same old dross of a team setup to complete a fixture not win in. Last weekend there was some fight and we were mostly solid bar the odd bit of luck. We didn't have much of that this time out.

I've said on the other thread. Harrogate in the first half were a poor a team as you will see. Yet one decent touch outside the area after some hold up play and they score, because our defense didn't see any danger in Harrison being dragged out wide.

Hard to see where wins are coming from. We are just devoid of quality. Out of the squad maybe 5 or 6 are league level.

Leutwiler - Underwhelmed so far.

Pidge - OK as a defender but not great with the ball at his feet, terrible playing short to him he doesn't have the quality to pick passes

McGahey - Looked decent at Dale but struggled when people ran at him v Harrogate. Dived in a bit too much but I think he will do over the course of a season.

Stobbs reminds me of Joe Colbeck looks quick, hugs the line, but can't beat a man or provide any quality crosses -  doesn't look league level

Bahamboula - Is a good lower league player but that's it. He's not Messi but he took 3 players on and provided what should have been a goal, and goal's change games. We have to take some chances and he needs some help from others.

Hope - Is lost - can't so anything up front on his own. It's pointless persisting with it. Something needs to change here. Either we try him with a partner or we do something drastic and shove someone else up top.

Fage - Another one that I've never been convinced by - should only play as a winger for me as he isn't reliable or strong enough as a league defender

Bowden - No idea why we signed him solid sideways and backwards player offers little else. Just a clone of Whelan. We are crying out for forwards surely there were some available on loan who would do a job? either give us some extra pace or what we really need some decent hold up play. We can't create pressure on defenses to create chances.

Whelan - Not in the game enough - i think its a lack of quality rather than effort.

Davis - Can we not play him as part of front two in attack rather than trying to play him as some number 10?

Dearnly - Doesn't look right does he? - he was quick - now he looks scared to run full throttle looked like he was hobbling at times to me.

Diarra put his foot in a few times but again he can't do anything going forwards.

Hart - Has looked at times OK but he's not a wing back he's never sure when to go forwards or backwards.

Jameson - Lottery winner - Just a big lad near hopeless with the ball

Sheehan - Shouldn't play anymore he can't do it. Far too slow.

Clarke - Has done  OK at full back but some his passing was so poor on Saturday. Either couldn't be bothered or genuinely careless

Adams and Cisse might give us something more in midfield in terms of tackling and physicality even tho I haven't been blow away by Cisse so far.

I gave Curle a bit of a blast after an hour cause i'm sick to death of us going through the motions for 60 minutes conceding x amount of goals and that being it. Where is the effort? Why are not trying to press quickly at least and aggressively and working hard to keep tight as a unit? Work hard and close down? We don't even do that well.

Sick of it at the minute.
