Always said it,

Striker's aren't on the pitch to defend and shouldn't be considered as such.

Their whole game is about being an out ball for the defence when the opposition are pressing too high and ultimately putting away any opportunity that comes their way.

Any striker worth his salt will always be right on the last defender, ready to pounce.

Most of Norwood's  career goals have been inside the penalty area, yet here we see him foraging near the halfway line, no wonder he looks a forlorn figure.

The two are not incompatible.
Score when he’s in the box, if the ball falls to him there. Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be pressing further back when the game demands it.
It’s not binary

he has always done that. he is like Paul Warne but with lots more goals, a lot more cards and an angrier face.

Not when tactics dictate he's far away from scoring opportunities. I thought we brought him in to finish off chances. Mind you we haven't got a creative midfield so he's wasted.

Nope, you play a creative midfield and let him get on with what he does best.

But if there isn’t one …,,

You are convoluting actuality into theory.

I humbly suggest you wait until a “creative midfielder “ is in place and then review his positioning.

Striker's should never be defending corner's

Not their job and by doing it, there's no way of getting out

Forwards half way line or further dependant on the last defender and bloody stay there.

Give the other team something to think about instead of all this Alamo sitting deep bollox

He was playing behind Sheron and Shelton at times, hardly a creative role.

Trent Alexander Arnold played behind Liverpool's centre mids and was probably their most creative influence against Villa.

Matty Palmer played that sort of deep lying role for Notts County and didn't do too bad.

Nonsense

Lee Hughes was always on near post defending corners.and further up the ladder Harry Kane was always back defending corners for Spurs

Tale a look at nearly every team and you’ll see the same.

Which of our strikers would be able to keep that up for 90 minutes and still have enough left in the tank?

I don't buy into it at any level

Course you don't. You obviously don't watch football if you think strikers don't defend corners. Watch Man City and you'll see Erling Haaland defending corners
