Mellon's comments.

"The way it is now, everybody that's here has got another year's contract so it's difficult because everything's pretty much tied up, everything's already been spent on the group that's here and the frustrating part is the group needs a lot of help and we won't have the ability to do anything about that, even with the outgoings"

I take it he means the contracted players who remain and there is no budget left, even if he gets rid of some?

That’s exactly what he means, and the point I am making.

He isn’t talking about the Reid Nuttall etc etc.

He’s talking about players in the team who he can’t get rid of because he has other outgoings to sort first.

First class motivation for the reaming players. . 🤦🏻‍♂️

He meant that he was worried about avoiding relegation.

Good point, he probably is and may have to be again, if his doom-laden interview is anything to go off.

Yes, agree. our 4/5 at the back have contributed almost nothing,  from the midfield forward.

Kitching played 43, no goals and no assists.      Hobson 33 played, no goals and no assists.  Raglan played 31, no goals and no assists.  Hogan, played 41, 1 goal, no assists.    That,, must be a record even at 5th league level.

The contribution from the backline was woeful last season but those stats aren't true.

Kitching G0/A4
Hobson G0/A0
Raglan G0/A2
Hogan G1/A3
Sutton G0/A2

Was going to point this out but couldn’t be arsed.

I must say, I think that’s the worst Oldham side I have ever seen from set plays, and the coaching team need to take responsibility for that.

Be it the delivery, or the lack of any attacking intent by the players in the box, it’s been a shambles all season.

Good delivery and attack the ball, don’t wait for a lofted delivery to hit your head.

Absolute fantastic news Hogan and Sheron have been told to find new clubs. Doubt many will want though.

hogan has been a dire captain. Hopefully some leaders are signed

"Dire" maybe a tad harsh, but I'll be glad not to see him go down injured for the billionth time again. Usually when we're chasing the game.....

Really really happy with this news. Hogan had a good patch playing in a 3, but is beyond a liability in a 2.

Sheron, well, he’s simply not good enough for any team looking to be competitive on a consistent basis. Absolutely shit footballer.

Yet probably our best midfielder, as low a bar as that is..

Exactly what I wanted to see. More ballast to be binned inc. Shelton, Sheron and Hogan. The latter two I think will find clubs. Not sure on Shelton. Hope Hartlepool want to take him home.

Yep.a few goals has masked pretty much what a poor job he’s done since he arrived. Just isn’t fast enough in speed of thought or moving the ball.

Probably fine at this level for a mid table club.

Whatever you think of the player it is poor form to humiliate them like that...

Behave. They’ve just been asked to find new clubs, that’s all. They aren’t expected to be starting any matches come August.

Publicly stripping someone of the captaincy.

He’s not expected to be here. I’m sure Liam will take the news as the consummate professional that he is.

I'm sure he will. He doesn't need to be humiliated in the process though.

I sort of agree, but if he's on the transfer list, it's implicit that he'll no longer be captain..

Conlon, Lundy and McGahey (a centre back) better than him.

Not while they've been at Latics, they're not...

Gardner, I'll give you.

Sure, but we as fans don't need to know that, especially given we haven't got a game for three months....
