We're in for a couple of Chesterfield players...

Not really worked signing ex Stockport winners Hogan, Kitchen and Rooney!

Not forgetting Reid of course.

We sign players from clubs in lower divisions "why we signing players from tinpot clubs? 😡"

We sign players from teams who have won this division "well it didn't work when we signed players from Stockport 😡"

We sign players from higher divisions "why we signing L2 rejects 😡"

We don't sign anyone "😡😡"

Who was the last very good player we signed from Stockport?

Think we'll go for Hoti at Halifax as well. Mellon has had him before...

23yo and 6 clubs.

He made his debut for Dundee United on 10 April 2021 in a 1–0 Scottish Premiership win away to Hamilton Academical, with Dundee United manager Micky Mellon stating that "he has come on and showed what a lad of great promise he is."[13]

Wonder will we go for Kanu from Barnet- was there not rumors floating about round Jan?  Beckett was some signing back in the day, we have had a few to be fair (every now and again!)

Never understood the bizarre reaction of some of our fans to ex players. It didn't work out here for Banks but he quickly got some stick (and his dad) making it hard to settle - sounds familiar with some of our current crop!

He has twice won promotion from the National League and once from League 2. Who's laughing now?

Indeed. We were in L1 which is probably a tier too high for him. Chesterfield fans love him and are hoping he’s retained by the way.

Signed him for Dundee Utd and Tranmere.  Decent player but not sure if he's still under contract at Halifax

Yes but he got stick because he was a lazy bastard not because he lacked ability.

Very similar to most of our current squad.

We have quite a few players who run around a lot. Doesn't mean they are any good.

Serial winners Micky Mellon and Paul Cook both included him in promotion winning squads.

We actually don't run around alot at all if anything we are a very static team which doesn't press and gets regularly out ran in games, although I do take your point about players needing to be able to do abit more than just run.

For the record Ollie Banks is far better than any of our midfielders and he's someone who got way more grief than he deserved while here.

Agree about the need for an aggressive press. Too many opponents knocking it around at the back against a half-hearted  attempt.

I  remember being at Hartlepool when Josh Stones badgered the life out of their defence, won back possession and set up Norwood for a goal.  A few like him would do nicely.

Indeed and if Norwood is going to be here next season to get the best out of him at his age hes going to need a partner and one who can do his running for him in the way Stones can. Fondop could do that too and could also win the ball in the air but he's getting over 30 himself plus his injury record isn't the best plus he does occasionally do stupid things so we can't totally rely on him.

He got stick because he spent most of the time floating around midfield not creating anything and pulling out of tackles...
