al_bro
I've just seen Newanight and there was a topic on who's speaking up for the 48% remainers. They were all Labour people, and an utterly mindless woman said that those 48% must be heard, and we must do everything we can to get back into the EU. The total hypocrisy, and lack of democracy in that statement was unbelievable. She was totally disregarding the fact that 52% voted to leave (but they were stupid and I'm right). Typical of today's blind and deaf Labour Party.
Yard Dog
It's a shame that this EU referendum seems to have, for many, been one big protest against immigration on one side and perceived Tory anti-socialist values on the other. For me one of the only politician who's been true and honest in all this is Corbyn and now he's getting it more than anyone. His problem is he's too honest. ChaddySmoker
Except he believes in out, based on his track record, yet was forced to declare in, honest??? I think that a lot of people do not understand the massive difference in the roles of leading the Tory party and leading the Labour party. That includes a lot of the Labour MPs and virtually every journalist

You've got to worry about that antisemitism stuff though. I'm a Corbyn fan and have been for many years, but a leader needs good people around him or her, and Corbyn doesn't have them. Foreign Secretary just saying that we're not in a position to begin negotiations just now. I'd say brexit is about 35:65 likely.

If Tory part members feel that way we're heading for a Leadsom government, and that is a scary proposition.
24hoursfromtulsehill
If Tory part members feel that way we're heading for a Leadsom government, and that is a scary proposition. Yep. Individual depts and ministers have a stock answer to every question at the moment (X, Y or Z is for the new PM to decide). That means no effective government or scrutiny, but they're desperate not to let the cat out of the bag before the Tories have decided Theresa May is okay. You can read the direction of travel in between the lines, but it won't be long before it's out there and the Tories implode just as badly as Labour have. On one side you'll have brexit now at any cost, and on the other you'll have brexit when it suits us, which means never. General election on 13 October with more than one manifesto per party can't be out of the question. May made herself massively unpopular with the membership when she said the Tories had to get rid of the "nasty party" image. (Presumably they were quite attached to that image.) Fortunately for her, most of the people who hated her at the time will be dead by now.

24hoursfromtulsehill
Plenty of space there for the "I'll govern for the whole nation" theme, given Cameron and Osborne's zealotry. She's massively right wing, but everyone will think she's a dyed-in-the-wool pinko compared with those two.
GlossopLatic
Its a rather a weird situation all the people leading the Brexit campaign appeared to have effectively lost. Gove Leadsom and Johnson have all been seen as untrustworthy and May appears to have stood back watched the others maul each other to death and then step forward and taken victory is she the only winner out of this whole thing? Was always going to win. Fair play to the Tories...the obviously had this one nicely planned from a while back. Could've been much worse for them but they've put it all nicely into a box and are getting on with it, until the Great Brexit Betrayal. Meanwhile, Labour supporters throw rocks through the windows of other Labour supporters.
